Got up early this morning and dropped it off at the scrap yard. There it goes!

It was pretty stable with the front end tied down and lowering it down onto the trailer went pretty smoothly. I was able to get the rear end removed without crawling under the Suburban and was lucky that everything came loose very easily. I was very happy to complete the task without serious injury.

On Friday we removed the rear end, drivers door and trailer hitch. We should be able to sell those bits for more than enough to break even on the Suburban.

As nice as it has been selling misc bits and pieces off of the Suburban we have tired of looking at the remains sitting on the side of the garage. On Thursday we borrowed a truck and trailer and loaded it up. We had some fun with the tilt bed but eventually got it loaded.

Sold a saginaw 4 speed & Hurst shifter last night! It will be going into a 74 GTO that came with a 3 speed. Added $330 to the fund.

This weekend we got the motor separated from the transmission. Now I just need to get it to the rebuilder.

Thanks for the tips. I sold the roof rack ($40) off the Suburban this weekend and the steering wheel pictured earlier as well as a set of 74 Nova SS sport mirrors. Added another $240 to the cause. Unfortunately, that was the only progress made.

Helicoils work good. I used them to fix the caliper bolts holes on the right steering knuckle on my wife's Wrangler. That was 6yrs and 2 brake jobs ago. You'll definitely wanna make a drill guide to drill the hole straight. I'd stud the hole, and use high temp Locktite to make sure it don't work it's way out.Last edited by tardis454; May 3, 2017, 04:08 PM.

The good news is that I did not break off any extractors in the bolt. The bad news is that the bolt remnants are still in there and it looks like I hit the threads with the drill bit.
That head will have to come off and go to the machinist.

Ah....there we go.
Rats, I was hoping to learn a new craigslist trick. Happy selling!
And the truck project is a neat thread, thanks for sharing. Nice work as always.
