I like light weight engines over the front wheels.

So I know all you die hard drag racers embrace a lot of "air" in the floor boards but this california guy's gotta look out for his back and joints. Im too old to be messing around with rust if I dont have to. So this last week I got the other el camino and pulled the body off and did some prep work for the paint shop.

So I got my floors all prepped and the El Camino is off to the paint shop. Getting the floor prepped was more than enough effort in the body dept. for me. Figure the painter can take care of the rest

I got my new Ron Francis Wiring Harness today!
https://picload.org/view/rwdglcpa/ronfranciswiringharnessl1964el.jpg.html]
My friend used one of these harnesses on his old Ford and he really liked it. There's no loom thats pre-assembled so he was able to run the wires exactly how he wanted without having to cut open the loom and relocate things. It worked out really well for him so I think this is gonna be great for Ruth's El Camino. I didnt quite understand what he was talking about when he explained it to me but now that I have it in front of me I can see that I just need to run the wires from the gauges to the fuse panel and then just attach the wires to it when im satisfied with how they look.

So I stopped by the paint shop last week and they are making some great progress. He took a bunch of pics that he gave me so here they are. Im really happy with the way its going so far. Hopefully he'll be done soon and I can start putting this thing back together
Here are the front fenders while they were getting them straightened out. https://picload.org/view/rwdglcow/1964_elcamino_frontfender_driv.jpg.html]
https://picload.org/view/rwdglclw/1964_elcamino_frontfender_pass.jpg.html]
And here are the fenders primed and ready for some final block sanding https://picload.org/view/rwdglcla/1964_elcamino_front_fender_dri.jpg.html]

The quarter panels came out really nice. From what I could tell they were the worst panels on the El Camino https://picload.org/view/rwdglcca/1964_elcamino_quarter_panel_dr.jpg.html]
https://picload.org/view/rwdglccl/1964_elcamino_quarter_panel_pa.jpg.html]
The firewall was also pretty rough. They really made it look great.

Heres the bed and secret compartment. Im having this rhino lined and then painted over https://picload.org/view/rwdglcaw/1964_elcamino_bed_primed.jpg.html]
