    • I have that same transmission (or very nearly the same), however mine is in a totally different application. It's connected to a 30's-40's model GE 5hp electric motor that drives my converted Lodge & Davis machine lathe that was built in 1887. How hard was it to find parts? I need to put new seals in mine, it won't hold oil. Someone tapped in zerk fittings though, so the bearings stay greased at least.

        • thanks!

The transmission does not have seals, it uses thin grease, such as EP00 like you can find at tractor and lawnmower stores. If you fill it with oil, it will leak. By design.

                  • This one is about as basic as it gets. Although it also needed a lot of work, on almost every system. Fortunately the systems are pretty simple.

                    • While I know the motor is not very powerful, did you find it will chug low?
Getting into dad's 29 Ford pickup, with my back, big feet, I kicked it into 2nd while it was idling and it did not die, iit merely shuddered, lurched then putt putted away.. After dad passed, mom sold all the good stuff..
I always wanted something to run in the Pigs N Cars event in Tillamook that Bryan posted about a year or so ago.. I watched them one year before running the derby there.. I just love how a slight crank on the hndle starts them..
And always wnted one to use as a "side by side" on the farm..

                          • sure!

I got a battery and got the battery tray back into working condition. The starter seems to work after fiddling with it and the switch a little bit...but it doesn't quite turn the engine over enough to start. I think if I reverse the flywheel ring gear, it might help.

                            • working on the flywheel...it's all apart right now.

had to grind a little angle in to each of the 110 teeth, on the other side of the ring gear. Fun.
