put a speedster gas tank where the rear body was

street legal? what do you have to have on a car from 1928 to make it street legal? even the lights were gas powered back then...

I'm jealous, I've been mildly looking for something like that to do what I suggested.

This car has electric lights, 4 wheel brakes, etc. Mostly, it needs a license plate.

well hell, you need to remove some of those brakes so they don't trash you on HAMB ;)

I think a SBF would be pretty cool in a Chevy. Seriously though, I like the vintage speedster look with the original motor and a few nods to the modern mostly for driveability such as hydraulic brakes, maybe a S10 T5.

I don't do T5s....the brakes, kind of would require different axles, etc. I do have one other engine I'd consider using, a 270 GMC, but it's a bit longer, so things would have to move around. And it would need better brakes, etc.

Yeah, I know....it would be quite a different car, than with the original 4 banger.

why don't you do T5s? too new or not strong enough? I know what ever you do with it will be cool! Glad to see you are starting a new build.

Too much like the transmission you'd find in a rice burner (my wife's miata has a 6 speed, it's fun to drive, but it is definitely does not feel like an old hot rod)

I think he opposes internal shift linkage

Not at all. The 28 chevy transmission has internal shift linkage.

Just curious Jim - can you tell who made that trans? I suppose Chevy was making their own back then but I don't know - might be a B-W, Dayton gear, or who knows?

It has a big bowtie cast into the side of the case....that's a pretty good clue, eh?
