A depot hack would be easy. If you are going to work with wood, challenge yourself. Wouldn't a boat tail speedster Chevy be unique, and a challenge.

I could make any type of body from wood...a simple pickup box would be neat too, less work!

yup!
I went to see The Man about getting a title...since there is no floor for there to be a serial number tag on, there's not much they can do right now. He suggested I get the thing mostly put together (wheels, lights, etc) then apply for bonded title, and they'll probably have to assign a VIN.

When I got a new "VIN" on my little camp trailer in California, it was shockingly easy. The guy came out, looked at the trailer, checked the lights, rubbed clean a spot on the frame and stuck a metal tag on it and printed out the registration. 20 minutes once I got to the counter. If a car and Arizona is similar it wasn't that big of a deal.Escaped on a technicality.

They like to make things as complicated as they can around here. And good service is rare...there were about 30 folks in the lobby and one clerk working! they have 10 workstations, and no staff for a city of around 50,000 people. Crazy.

I didn't think stuff that old really had VINs, a serial number yes, but not much of a VIN.
Grandpa, 92 now, remembers his family getting a new Chevy in 1927, traded it in '29 for a new one. For '29 they made the 6 standard, no one will ever want a 4 again!Stew K.

Folks call it the VIN, but yeah, they were just serial numbers until 1968.
