Paul, have you guys looked into MegaSquirt controllers? They are available in kit form and have a big on-line user group with lots of info. Our Randal (Silver Buick) is a real wiz with it and is a heck of a nice guy - I know him in real life. Anyhow, I'll bet you have kids who could build it and there are all sorts of code and code-building tools so it might be just what you need. Lots of the users use salvage yard hardware and there's info on how to adapt junk yard stuff to do the tasks you'll need done. Seems like a perfect fit to me.

This is great stuff, BTW. MS has been used in Engine Masters builds and other top-end projects.

There's even a chance that the makers of MegaSquirt (can't remember that name offhand) might donate or give you a discount if they know about the project - can't hurt to try.

    Dan

            Cool project.

More importantly, really cool program you are running there, that has to be one of the biggest and best equipped high school shops I've seen and great that you are engaging them with such a great project - keep it up - full marks to you!!!

Do you participate in or have you seen Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge, a fun program for HS students that get them some exposure and scholarships http://www.hotroddersoftomorrow.com

ID:	1142098Want to give Huge thanks to DSE for supporting us and sending us these great looking mini tubs. These are Made is the USA and are extremely high quality. These are most likely some of the youngest installers of these tubs at 14-15 years old. The directions are easy to understand and available Youtube videos makes it easy for everyone. Dont hesitate to ask any questions on the install and many more pictures to come!!

I can't tell you how much it does my heart good to see the kids involved and enthused. Especially the girls, being the father and grandfather of girls. DB's daughter might inspire these girls, too.

ID:	1143050This is Ally. She is one of our collision repair students and is shaving the rear marker lights. She works in a collision shop on a co-op and comes by when she is done with work. Great kid and just got accepted to college and taking up Criminal Justice. She enjoys working on cars and does a great job.

These guys are clearly camera shy! we ended up cutting out the front crossmember and building a tubular section to replace it and going to notch out where the oil pan goes. Starting welding up all the old seams and smoothing out the top of the frame rails.

ID:	1145230Went to put a new cam in this 2011 6.0 for the build and found cam bearings looked not to hot. Here we go on full budget tear down. Just replacing cam bearings, gaskets, and needed bolts. Did start on gasket matching the l92 heads. Shooting for 500hp for under $3,000!

                        Thanks Dan!
I sent Dan a pic of my daughter welding her derby car doors shut...
She is in the criminal justice system! Named Corrections Deputy of the year for 2016!
I see in the next post Ally welding and in criminal justice courses !,
Good luck! These will be good fall back stress relievers for you!

All these skills learned will apply to life, no matter the field the kids go into.
Even if they only use their skills as a hobby, it will be very rewarding!
