  • Block saver?
We use "block savers" or as some call them, "cradles"
Some are 3/8". They bend under our use.. Got some 1/2 and 3/4" thick..
Bolts to the front mounts and the 3 holes on the side.. The mounts are the clamshell type..

What is the block saver you mean? Same?

    • no - it goes between the flywheel and the block. It's purpose is to save the block from getting damaged if the flywheel comes apart... in conjunction with a scatter shield it contains any failure of the flywheel.

i thought a block saver was the 3/4 socket duct tapped
under the accelerator pedal so you caint get
too much RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH from yer motor....

wow-at least you were able to get the broken off
piece out too.... that sucks, but better they break now,
than at 160mph/ 7000+RPM--shooting coolant and oil
all over the tires as you start going sideways....

yup. better to find it now.

              • and going with ARP studs.... if those break, I'll have more issues to address then oil, coolant and sideways.

sideways is ALWAYS an issue with a big block vette.
thats the FUN part--as long as youre doing it on purpose.

when it jumps up unexpectedly (surprise!!!) is when it tends
to bite you in the @ss......

                  • started fixing the oil pan. I'm not sure I'm going to make it shallower however, I will fix the drain plug being an inch above the floor

                    yummy parts

and studs.... you know, I could occasionally bottle feed this

                    no torque, just snugged down

yes, because you obviously wont have enough power as it is......
nothing says 'just right' like wretched excess!

reminds me of when i was a kid, we drove over a
small bridge that said max weight capacity 5 tons
and i asked mom "how do they know what the max
                            weight it can handle is"?

her straight faced reply was " they build the bridge, then drive
heavier and heavier trucks over it till it breaks. then they
weigh the last truck and rebuild the bridge".....
