yeah, i swore the vette was "the last one im doing"--then
we found the '55, which also became "the last one im doing".
then the K5 blazer showed up, so now THATS "the last one
im doing"...at least untill the next "too-good-to-pass-up"
or "hey i always wanted one of those" deals comes along....

shoot, forgot about the paughco chopper--
THATS "the last one im doing".....

hi, my name is sol, and im a car crackhead.......

spun it around, tossed it on the lift

          ugh, a run

undercoated the wheel wells, this is very important because if rocks hit the fender from the tire - you'll chip paint

          same story, verse 2

I'm going to murder this out.... everything black - thought about brushed stainless but no, black is better

            • making the pile smaller
the louver was hitting the air cleaner... so I shaved the base at an angle... clearance

              lordy does it get dusty

but I like it and the louvers clear

              blacking out side pipes

              sand then hang

              then bake the coating on

              yep, thinking I like it

this is a test... paint would not survive here for long, but I wanted to see what it'd look like anodized black

now to take it to the coater.... yes, I like it a lot

this is the last bit I need to polish and paint...

                • my biggest fans

mirrors... going to make them black too.... just not 100% sure how

even the carpet is now down for a good clean

                  hmmmm. should I use it?

my stack of chrome to make black.... I may have a plan for this, though

fittings and hose... but not enough fittings... I also have yet another bracket system on its way, so nothing is set until that gets here

                  for the next person doing this... 5/8, 16mm 18mm, 18mm, 18mm
that is... the fitting size for the PS pump, the pump-to-hydroboost size, the hydroboost to the steering rack an finally the steering rack outlet....

                      • yikes--the 11" only pulls 1700cfm... i hope thats enough,
my vette needed almost 5000cfm to keep it at 180 degrees
in stop/go on a hot day. course 'luminum radiator & 'luminum
                        heads will help....

I used one 20" (IIRC) on my last C3, it never got hot - but I also live in a place where everyone is dying at 85 degrees because it's so hot.... normal 'high' temps is 80.... we might get a year where there are 7 days of 90 degrees.... rarely even in a row, mostly it ramps up then falls right back down...

                          • the pointless existence of painting parts

                            and scrub the wheels...

so here it goes.... use header paint on the stainless and chrome

except rockers that get rocker paint

these are going to be a challenge

and why not, while I'm at it, replace the windshield

in my defense, the window has to come out to get those chrome corners off

it did come out, but not without a fight, likely this is original GM

and a bit of rust converter

tomorrow more of the same, but I can start putting it back together....
