started welding in the bottom patch panel

for those wondering if this is show-car-level, absolutely not

it was time to go neanderthal and cut then beat it back into some better shape

Sometimes I find it easier to just cut out the bad section and either pound it out and weld back in, or weld in new metal. Dents like that one drive me nuts trying to pull.

it's close enough, I may need to do one shrink, but at this point it's within bondo distance (meaning 1/8" of bondo thickness)..... had the slice not worked, chopping it off would be the next step. I think I found another wagon in S. Dakota, but I'm not 100% sure it would save me any time because it's a solid 20 hours of driving to go get it (not to mention the cost and driving to S. Dakota in the dead of winter)...

Here's one in a warmer climate you might call them about? Maybe they'd sell the main body shell cheap?

I sent them an email (the phone number is deleted by ebay), and their 'name' narrows the search down to 3 listed wrecking yards (and who knows if these folks are listed).

Only my opinion - if it one of the 3 big junkyards in Arizona - it won't be cheap may not even be any good. Not all their stuff lived its entire life in the desert.

now to work on the firewall...


part of this was to get the engine parts on the motor but I also need to get the firewall finished and painted... then I can start permanent assembly and more importantly make it a running vehicle

Will you end up replacing the cam and timing set? Since it's this far apart I'd probably at least do the timing set.
