  • I remember there being issues with the new replacement points in the distributor. Issue being that the new points had no return spring on them, only the conductive strip. Was fixed by reinstalling the old points after filing.

        • I think it's best the way it worked out. You made it look SO easy and did it SO well. If it would have gone 9s all week everyone would have cried. Back half obviously is probably fuel. No need to waste the letters to even type that. So.... what does a good used Vertex go for these days? Lotsa voodoo and juju surrounded them in the old days. Guys had three or four of them so they could keep cycling them to Joe Hunt for tweaking up. He's STILL around:

But I know you will rather roll your own. OR a genuine Joe Hunt, or BOTH.

              • yup. Real mechanical injection, real magneto, make it look and run more like a proper go fast car from the 60s. Big learning curve for me...but it's been part of the plans for the car all along, after I got it all put together with the carbs and distributor. It should be interesting.

                    • A video of the Barracuda on Drag Week done by Street Machine.

It really shows what a fantastic job Jim did on the car.

Jim well done, the car is a real stand out as we can all see. Great job on getting to the end of Drag Week.

                            • it was cheap at walmart...it's some kind of golf hat, it was right next to the automotive section. We didn't have time to do proper hat shopping, Drag Week is kind of a mad rush

here it is the last day of drag week, sitting in the hotel getting ready to go the track. The car is running like crap racing, but doing fine on the highway. ran 11s the first 3 days, finally got a chance to fix the tach yesterday and a few other things, ran 10.5 but it was crapping out again about half track. Might just run a 12 today, take it easy on the car, I can't improve my average time enough to place no matter what happens.

Folks love the car...and that's what it's all about. This thing is art, more than it's a race car. Which was the intent from the start.

next year: lettering, mechanical injection and a magneto
Next year a blown injected bbc.
Lettering on the side, Ya ,it's got a hemi (with a red circle with a line through it, over the word hemi)
And maybe some 3/4" metal straips for the rear window, like a circle track car would've had to keep the glass in place, instead of taking flight mid run.
