  • Mocked up the new inner fenders. May need to modify the passenger side slightly for tire clearance when the wheel is turned all the way to lock.

Big step! New wiper motor is in and works after MANY adjustments. Probably the first time this car has seen power in 40+ years...

    • So I ended up modifying the passenger side inner fender for tire clearance. Also installed the brake lines from the firewall to the frame.

Also mocking up the alternator, water pump , pulleys etc... Need to route the heater lines and change the thermostat housing to a 90 deg. piece. Good thing I have a friend with parts!Checking clearances for the radiator. May need to modify the outlet. It is really close to the swaybar.

Modified the speaker hole for the new radio. Actually did not need to modify it much. She'll have GPS, phone hook-ups, hands free phone, back-up camera...and AM/FM. No cassette though...hehehe. Wanted to make sure it all fit with the glovebox etc. Pretty happy with how it's turning out.

I bought a 2014 F-250 overhead console with a single switch. I plan to use the switch for the cowl vent. The lights will be used as dome and reading lights. Good for those long trips. Started to fabricate parts to hold the new console. So far, so good....need to work on the sides now and plate to allow the F-250 piece to snap in.

Still on pace to have it ready for the body shop in June...of course this pandemic could play a part in that. In the meantime, I'll just keep plugging away...

      • Really like the overhead console idea. Lots of wasted space up there.

          • Console is done, power steering pump is in and clears everything (woo hoo!), heater hoses are done, horn is in (and works ) and holes drilled for the mirrors. Now it's time to take everything apart...

            • I remember telling non-car people that when you build a hot rod you build it at least 2 or 3 times. I get a round of "Naw" when I say that. Folks outside the hobby can't imagine that. Yours is looking GREAT!

              • Yup, Dan...same here! Motor/trans go in and out minimum 2 times before it goes in for good.. This car is coming together nicely!

                          • I'm in the process of taking everything apart right now. The front fenders and grill are getting worked on in the meantime. Once I have them back, I'll assemble the front end and take everything ever to the body shop on the frame to get all the panels fitted and aligned. Once that's done, I'll remove the body and put it on the cart. I found a rotisserie so I plan to adapt it to the cart. From there, the body will go to the blasters before back to the body shop.

While it is there, we'll finish the frame, build the exhaust, run the fuel and brake lines etc. Then the frame can go off for powder coating. At some point in there, I'll build the engine. Then hopefully I can start final assembly when it all comes back together?? Sounds easy - right? hehehe

Oh well - that's the plan for now. The farm equipment needs a little maintenance before hay season starts soon, the Harley needs some love since the weather is getting nice, tree lines need trimmed....I should probably get some of these things done.

Thanks for following and helping out!

                            • The farm equipment is ready to go (I think), so I decided to shuffle things around a bit. Rolled the '40 out for some rare Ohio sun! Should have the fenders and grill soon...

                              • Mocking up for motivation! Next stop is the body shop to get all the panels fitted and work done while it's bolted to the chassis.
