This started back in March 2019. A friend of mine called and said he had a 66 Chevy truck he wanted to give away. Well after he sent me pictures, I informed him it was a 68. I told him I would be interested in it. He told me to come get it. So we did. When we got to Donnie's house it had 2 flat tires but the air tank on the ramp truck handled it fine. Along with the winch to pull it up on it with. As we where loading it Donnie handed my daughter the original tilte and keys along with all the papers his dad got with it when he bought it new in 68. It has 63,000 miles on the straight 6 engine and 3 speed transmission which both are going by bye for a fresh V-8 and 700-R4 combo. I used the ramp truck to haul it home and it never knew it was back there.
My daughter has claimed it and so the building of it is under way. She wants it ready for the 2020 HRPT! That maybe pushing it though.
So any way we have started working on it and have got a short bed frame for it to convert it over. The new frame had disc brakes dual exhaust and power steering already installed. $800.00 for it was a good deal I thought. The V-8 was given to me and had it completely rebuilt with 12,000 mile warrinty. 700-R4 is rebuilt by local guy. We have done complete rear end rebuild with new bearings, seal, brake shoes wheel cylinders and all new hard lines and rubber lines back and front. New motor munts and cab and raditor mounts. Got a completely rebuilt 71 C10 tilt steering column and a 3 spoke Corvette wheel for it. New hood and fender trip and letters.
My daughter & grandson have even help with it some. We turned the droms and rotors and rebuilt the calipers. Putting a 19 Gallon 'NO LIMIT' engineering gas tank between the rear frame rails with new lines.
