So most of you will not know what a Chevron kitcar is, down here in New Zealand there used to be a company named Chevron and they made Lotus7 reps, this was in the late 80s and 90s, after they shut up shop you could not get them any more, but they were a well made car and being so light (under 1500 pounds) no matter what motor you put in them they were very fast, I did one of these car up over Xmas that is running a 3.8 V6 out of a Holden (Buick) and I loved so much I have gone out and bought another one, this one is running a little 5K Toyota motor and a 5 speed gear box,

not so easy, as my son has said that he would like to be able to drive this car, and as he is not getting his hands on the 3.8 V6 powered Chevron, this one is going to have to be a small motored car, but in the end it should still be a lot of fun

So I got the last of the Satin black on the little car, next stage is to mark out the next step in paint, Im thinking of a candy orange stripe over the center of the car with ghost skulls airbrushed under the candy, if you look at the Lucky strike you can see what im talking about, this is my other one that I did over Xmas Click image for larger version

As some of you will know I'm I machinist. Today I needed to make a gearstick knob and parts to hang the front and rear guards with, I was not overly happy with the full round washer on the front guards so I trimmed them down

Dang! Why don't you live next door? I could use (and abuse) a neighbor like you.

So the other day I found rusted steel and plastic holding the steering wheel on as you can see this is not ideal, so I quickly whipped this up at work today

So I did an unboxing video over the weekend, This is my first unboxing video, As I say in the video as my Chevron is Satin Black its very hard to see on the road so I thought an LED whip would help and my son to be more easily seen, I do apologise that im not the most photogenic man on the planet.

It's time for a update, I got the roll cage bolted down, the packers will get painted black and I needed them for clearance, as I'm reusing an older roll cage, bought some mags in the weekend and I need make some packers to get the offset just right, 10mm for the front and 20mm for the back, I have ordered some ex-long wheel nuts, after some of the comments last time I have opened up one of the grills, and I made a Lotus7 logo for the front( once again hacksaw and file)
