We also removed the headlight bezels and hood ornament. We have a few more bits to remove before dropping off a load of parts to be rechromed. The seats are ready for dropping off at the upholsterer. Once those steps are done we need to get the motor and trans out for rebuilding.

We removed the door cards and rear interior panels:
Dropped off the seats with the upholsterer and ordered some factory style fabric from SMS. The stuff we ordered is reproduction of the cloth pattern on the part you sit on. We are planning on vinyl in place of the plain fabric:

At this point we realized that the engine crane we have was not going to clear the core support while the car was on the lift. Unfortunately, we need to remove at least one fender to remove the core support. Interestingly enough, both fenders are welded to the rocker panels as the lower mounts are not really attached to the car.
Wish we had done this earlier in the process.

Our plan was to have Teresa handle the disassembly. Unfortunately, Annie had other ideas. We rounded off 2 exhaust manifold bolts and snapped the head off another.
This manifold was already cracked before we started.

I absolutely love this project. You are SO lucky to have this come your way and the family connection makes it even better. I predict Annie will pass on thru your family for generations to come. Good all over you for doing a nice job on the refresh.

After the exhaust manifold failed to comply we went after the heads. The passenger side came off ok but many of the head bolts took way too much effort to break loose and remove. On the drivers side we snapped a head bolt. It was pretty rusted into the head so head removal involved beating on it with a large dead blow hammer. Here it is finally starting to move:

I tried drilling out the bolt on this one. Got about half way there and it started moving with the dead blow. We wound up spinning it out.
