It’s much easier to work on with to manifolds in the down position. Plus I want to keep everything low in the engine bay . The turbo will be positioned upper passenger side and I’ll weld a drain bung in the front corner of the pan . Funny you mentioned the torque converter bolts as I just tightened them up 15 minutes ago, I did my research and had no problems.

Moving forward , I fabricated a transmission crossmember and a battery box . I could have spent $100 and bought a battery box but instead I made one , it took 2 days but it’s a custom fit piece. To make things easy I decided to mount it on the frame under the box/cab . While laying under the truck I cleaned the floor pan with a scotchbrite pad . Like the day it rolled off the line.

Awhile back I was checking out YouTube and I watched a video of an S10 build. He had removed the side mounted fuel tank and installed a rear mounted tank from a 93 S10 Blazer. He’s not the first one to do so and I like this idea . So I did my research and ordered the correct tank, I had already purchased a new Walbro 450 pump as well as a new pump hanger for a 93 S10. In 93 GM changed these hangers . Instead of a slip on hose arrangement they went with a screw on style pick up and return. This tank swap uses factory components except for two crossmembers fabed from 4x4 angle iron. I like the idea of getting the weight to the rear of the vehicle plus my old tank needed replacing anyhow.

As I waited for parts today I thought that maybe today would be a good time to put the turbo part of this project into gear. The driver side exhaust manifold needed to be altered because the steering shaft wanted to share the same area. Out came the wheel of death, the welder and a section of tubing . Two hours later the job was done.
Next up was to modify the manifolds . I purchased some 2 inch diameter schedule 10 stainless steel elbows off of Amazon. 2 45 degree and 2 22 degree elbows. I learned this method from LS4 King on YouTube. I’m very happy with the outcome, after spending the day in the shop the job was done. Please don’t look to closely at the tig welds .

Remember to support the turbos. The guy who made exhaust bits for us at EPA used to work for Watson Engineering (think "Ford skunk works") and he says most turbo mount failures (pretty common) come from non-supported turbos where folks expect the manifolds to carry the turbo's weight.

Today didn’t start so well, one tack and I ran out of argon. Today being a holiday, my supplier is closed. So I moved on to fabricating a support for the turbo. After much thought and a piece of paper in hand I got to work. I found a length of 4x4 3/16 wall tube under the bench , perfect. After a few hours, I had a bracket that’ll do the job.
