Exactly , but it also looks like the protective cover that’s been pushed down. Nothing lasts forever except for taxes .

It’s funny how my welds have improved when the argon actually makes it to the weld instead of pissing out of a big bloody hole . Tig welding can be damn frustrating , 1 inch of nice weld followed by 2 inches of crap . Anyhow the hot side is done . I’m very happy with the design but the welds ….. not pretty but they’ll hold.

I really like your hot side! Glad you found the hole in your torch. I am still learning how to TIG weld I am not laying dimes but overall I am please. The last bracket I made I tacked it with the MIG then went back and flowed the spots with the tig so they didn't look so bad. My favorite thing to do with TIG is a fusion weld where I am just melting the existing metal together.

I think the welds loo fine as long as they don't leak. If the do mark with a sharpie and weld again. If you want them to look better run the TIG over them again with out adding filler. Dan told me the hardest part of body work is to know when to stop. I am guessing this is kinda the same.

Were you looking over my shoulder ? . Once I “thought “ I had a complete weld (360 degrees) , I stuck a light inside the tube to find holes , then I’d mark them with a Sharpie and then go over them. I learned about when to say when, when I did the bodywork on the Cougar. Of course I have to remind myself of this . Fusion welds work great when you have a tight fit .

I have done some exhaust work that is precious owner quality! As in the next owner will say bad things about it if they ever see it. I would crank the engine the feel for air and look for the water running out. Circle with sharpie weld.

I borrowed a band saw hopefully I can get a tight fit with out a lot of grinding. If it's real bad i will hit it with the mig.

Once I had the hot side all together I thought it would be a good time to install a turbo drain line . To do so I had to make room by notching the frame “again” . Anyhow the job is done . I covered the hose in heat shield and secured in place with a simple bracket.

Update time . Actually I’ve got quite a lot done lately. I rewired the front end , back end , installed interior trim pieces and reinstalled the front fenders and rad support . I’m planning on redoing the rad support , I need to find room for a rad and intercooler . I’m thinking a 1” box tubing structure to replace the bulky sheet metal piece . I can see this engineering project interfering with my sleep i

The S10 core support IS bulky! I almost did something similar with mine but I did get everything to fit so it's OK for now.

Thanks Russell , I didn't know that these were available. From the pictures these look like tube chassis trucks and would need to be modified for a stock frame. Plus I'd be looking at approx $600 cdn , so I think I'll be building my own. But I thank you for bringing this to my attention .

They claim it will fit stock frame rails. I don't blame you for building your own. There maybe other options. Google S-10 tube core support.

Yes ! It fits. Just a small bit of adjustment (trimming) to the under hood structure.
