I finished installing the 8.8 in the truck today , I spread the install over 4 or 5 days. A couple of hours here and there gets the job done. It was a little tricky when dealing with the Ridetech suspension. I had to modify the upper wishbone mount to work with the Ford differential but the wishbone worked as is thankfully. All that remains is to connect the Explorer brake hose to the S10 rear line and have the driveshaft shortened an inch and a half.

Hopefully I can have this stage buttoned up in the next 2 or 3 weeks. I keep thinking about taking this buggy to our local track (Mission Raceway Park) which sits at sea level and is an awesome facility. But I’d have to install a rear mounted cutoff switch since I have the battery relocated under the bed. To do this comes at a cost of $200 approximately for the switch and cable. Considering how few times I would go to the track I don’t know if it’s worth the expense. So since I do possess a Draggy I think it will provide me with the info I crave so as much as I’d like to take it down the track I don’t see that happening so I think some highway on-ramp testing will be the way to go. Future updates are bouncing around in my head … hot rods are never doneLast edited by langleylad; October 8, 2023, 10:34 PM.

The exhaust on this little truck consists of a 3 inch stainless pipe from the turbo back to a Flow FX muffler under the bed and it’s a little louder than I care for. One of the benefits of doing all of the work yourself is that you have a tendency of buying more parts than you need, at least I do. That being the case I just happened to have a 3 inch stainless J bend under the bench and a few mounts kicking around. I had to get a little creative running a tailpipe out from under the bed . There’s no way I can run one out back so out the side it is. I had to run it between the frame rail and the lower trailing arm , aired out there’s plenty of room. A coat of black paint and it becomes stealth.Last edited by langleylad; October 14, 2023, 09:36 PM.
