Okay everyone can jump on the wuss. I kept hemming and hawing over bolting the transmission and the bellhousing together. You may remember there was a half inch discrepancy in dimensions. I had options, but selected the money way out. That's the down side. The up side is I selected the money way out.
Remember I used to be employed in the government, double speak is easy!
Anyway, I ended up buying an adapter plate from Vintage Metalworks. Dave Farwell is the business owner and chief fabricator. And a very knowledgeable person especially regarding S10 T5 transmissions and the care and feeding of them in hot rods. And he's also an engineer!
So today I got the adapter for the Whatever project and the first thing is this thing is HOT ROD PORN.
Pretty isn't it? Best part is that no modifications to the transmission and the bellhousing are needed, only the bolt holes in the transmission needed to be drilled to half inch plus a little bit. So here's what it looks like in the car.
So go ahead, make fun of me. I'm secure in the knowledge that I can look at the transmission and the bellhousing together and it's done.
Next of course is the needed clutch disc. That's coming from Waco Texas in the near future Made to work again with no modifications necessary.
