I paid a price for working above my pay grade while I wasn't focused/patient enough for the task.

    Lesson learned; more practice obtained.

Next time I'll walk away instead of rushing a tricky task.

The good news is, there were no surprises (except for a small amount of body filler) when I blasted the bed sides. I'll take the win

      Tailgate Thursday

I think I'm about to get this thing roughed in.....It was pretty rough

There were 21 "bodyman" holes under the filler along with a lot of general bashing.

The upside is, the LAST 18 trim mount holes are filled in! It has a ways to go, but I'm not going crazy on this. It's too easy to change If I find a good one.

My wife is working, so I'll be spending the long weekend in the car shop unsupervised. Happy 4th everyone!

I put the "wood shop" to work in a new way the last few days.

The Previous owner here is a cabinet maker, this was his dedicated finish room.

It's no paint booth, but it beats the open shop.

So, I ran out of time waiting on Dan to agree to paint this pig.
Knowing when to say when, that's the hard part for me.
            This isn't a show car....it's GOOD ENOUGH ALREADY---Paint it!

Looks like ya done good! Spraying paint isn't all that hard - it's the prep that'll kill you.

Thanks Dan. It looks ok except for the run on the back of the cab. I got greedy trying to flow out a dry spot (also not enough light).

I'm just glad to finally have the window openings, jams, and firewall painted. Hopefully it will make it back to the frame very soon.

Thers are a few mechanical things to button up first.

Well, I spent a couple evenings trying to deal with burnt wires and corroded connections.
I lost my patients and ordered a Terminator. Sorry :LangleyDad, but mine made it here already.
I finally have everything together enough to weight down the back and order the drive shaft..... so now, back to paint prep for the rest of it.
Oh, yeah, I changed the cam and springs too. I couldn't resist the name.

I ordered a custom driveshaft through Speedway and it showed up at my house in 5 days. I'm impressed.

I do have concerns with the electric fan shroud on this cheap radiator. It's unlike any I've used.

Unless someone here knows a reason for the louvers, I'm going to close them off and fill the gaps around it.

louvers are for high speed bypass. if you block the radiator too much, you'll overheat at highway speeds. Usually they are flaps...

Thanks for the feedback. I've never heard that before.

Most of my past overheating issues have been in traffic, but surely TWO fans will get it done!

It's hard for me to believe I've not worked on the C-10 since September.

The last month has been eaten up by this project a friend recruited into.
I designed the prototype and cut it on my homemade cnc router.
Once approved we went into production in my friend's shop (it was his job AND he has a much better cnc router).
160 flags later ............. I'm glad not to be commuting 80miles a day.

The customer says expect another order in January for 250 more. I'm not sure I'm up for another round.
