Thanksgiving will be the first time he gets to come home.
We can kind of relax a little now. I told him I would fiddle with it on and off while he's gone. He was good with that. I have some more ignition and carburetor options we might try. He really wants to put a better intake on it. Hood clearance is the kicker. We have to do some measuring to see what will fit. An Edelbrock RPM is 5.5" a Torker 2 is 3.9" and a Weiand is 6.00".
First thing I am going to do is build a simple exhaust system for it because it is SO FREAKING LOUD.
Not that it matters much but the best pass was the one above. It went 15.88 but when it started breaking up, he let up and just cruised. He said he shifted at about 4500-4800 each time so I think it will do much better shifting it a little higher. Weather and DA were definitely not in our favor either. It was 95 deg and the DA was prob 6000+ feet.
I keep reminding myself that the red Mustang ran a 12.78 on it's first pass ever and months later went 10.50's just from figuring out the carb and timing.
I still can't believe the trans works as good as it does and the converter isn't horrible like I expected it might be. Crazytown.
Also his new rear wheels will be here Monday!! Whoohoo!!
Have I mentioned hauling a car to a track that is only a few miles away sucks? We probably could have driven it out there no sweat. But, if we had trouble on the road and a Sheriff or DPS were to stop, it would have totally sucked because it has no plates and no insurance.
