    So 4 trips,
times 12 miles per round trip,
    divided by $3.59/gallon gasoline
Equals a Very Pissed Of Customer....
    Besides loosing the whole day......

On the Bright Side, since there's nothing good on Monday night TV, finished the rear brakes.....

Here's the Dust/Dirt ring(s) fresh out of the Mini Paint Booth

      The brake adjuster/parking brake lever

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_20221119_163620~2.jpg Views:	0 Size:	963.9 KB ID:	1329234The parking brake cable had to be completely loosened to get the shoes collapsed enough to get the new drums on.
As mentioned before, the relationship between the parking brake and the condition of the rear brakes........
I don't think there's enough left in the Old Drums to have them "Turned Down" again!!
They'll be just fine as is for the Mad Max Sammy!!

Today, I did a Oil Change and Tire Rotation on my Cleaning Lady's Explorer. Tomorrow she is going to her sister's for Thanksgiving.

Tomorrow, going to swap the Steering Collum on the Timber Cruiser. Why.......That is for tomorrow night's bedtime story.

The Timber Cruiser Steering Column Swap
            had it's challenges.
But First why are we doing this ?
The reoccurring problem was the Splined steering shaft at the universal joint would start to Strip. I would re tighten the pinch bolt, until the last time it snapped off. Luckily there was enough sticking out to turn it out with a Vice Grip.
Used a new bolt, but Also welded the Universal joint to the steering shaft.
Knowing that now if that weld ever cracked, POTENTIALLY I would have No Steering at ALL........

So on the Parts Safari last month, I pulled one from a 1990 Sammy in the Junk Yard.

My Bad here is I didn't take any pictures........
I was on a mission to get this done, and put the Timber Cruiser in the Lower Barn till Spring.

The removal of the column at the Junk Yard was a Snap...
30 minutes or so and it was out.

              NOT on the Timber Cruiser.........
Pulling it was a Struggle to the end !!
Had to Drill and Chisel off a bolt head,
Die Grind the hole in the firewall to get the "Crush Shaft"
out and fight with the Brake Pedal and the bottom Bracket.

So Wednesday's success was just getting it out.

My Fam-Damily is coming Saturday for Thanksgiving.
So today I swapped the necessary parts between the two columns, and the install went WAY BETTER.
Had it all buttoned up by 1:00.
With the column in, I Chalk Marked both front tires,
And have the Toe In "K for Close" .... enough to get it to the shop in town for final alignment with the New Cross Steering Bars and Tie Rod End come Spring.

Now the rest of this thread is about the
                Mad Max Sammy Project.

Today's mission is ato get the Ski Whiz back together with the Temporary Track. Did go to a Snowmobile Junk Yard, found one later model Ski Whiz, It was Really Picked Over and the Track Was Trash !!! It was only a Ghost of a Track, didn't even look to see if it had the right part number.....
I need to get that stall open, and it running for when the Grand Kids Come up for Christmas ☃

Sunday was to get the Track Back into the Ski Whiz Snowmobile.
                            Slow progress because of "Interruptions".......
Morning was to cut up another tree that fell into our road.
Then I have Nice Neighbors, Beth brought over little project to repair for her, along with a Seafood Salad to Add to my Lunch.
So after visiting with her,........now IT WAS TIME for a Late Lunch
It was 4:00 before getting everything set up to work on the Ski Whiz.

Things WENT WELL on getting the Sprocket Drive Shaft back in. This is the hardest part. Did spend some time on fixing the Speedometer drive, and Lubricating the Cable.

Today will do a preliminary tension adjustment. Get the battery installed and others things back together.

                            Then the Scary part.......
You have to have the rear jacked up to clear the Track from the Floor, start it, bring up the RPM to get the Track running, and Adjust the Side to Side Runout.
Definitely going to have the Shop Door Open AND a Teather Kill hooked up if this Goes Badly !!

I will post later of the Days Events ....

                            .
