            it's remarkable solid and straight~ish

            and typical rust hole

irony is that the floors need to mostly be removed for the new motor/trans combo

            . The color Burple???

It looks pretty solid. Wish the MGB had been in similar shape to start with!

                    As promised.... we started today
first remove bailing wire and removed bed

removed the last bolts and removed the cab

                    Anthony helping install the transmission

then finding it doesn't fit.... which I kind of suspected

nothing huge, wrong motor mounts and wrong trans cross member but at least we got it set in place

so I could set the cab about 4" high onto the frame

                    now the metal fab begins....

I love the smell of metal which has survived 70 years being cut up and discarded

                      oh hole!

                      oh brother

doors are off, starting to make things fit

was supposed to call Art Morrison today... oops...

                        worked on his truck today

first some CAD design (that he helped with)

he cracks me up, he really does. He was telling me how to do metal work, so I handed him the piece was working on then said "okay, show me" He looked at the snips and piece then said "maybe I should watch you do it" lol
alrighty then, this is what WE did.

I suppose we should talk about this
engine fits awesome in the Art Morrison frame

                          however.
                          I'm not sure how we ended up with a 6L80e - I know I spec'd a 4L80e, but somehow we got the 6 speed.
and that brings up an issue

                          it's taller
top is in the same spot as the 4

I'm not a fan of hanging the pan that low. Initially, Anthony wants basic stock height - so it won't be a huge deal but he's a kid.... lower/faster will be his mantra and "can I buy transmission oil pans in bulk"

At this moment, we're talking to Art Morrison but so far I don't know. But with that said, I know people watch this stuff and this is one of those things that's good to know.... so now you know.

Think "skid plate" or something to make the front of the pan get by whatever abnormal event he is experiencing.

                              time to install the tank

a couple braces and just needs some holes

                              and installed and restacked together

in addition to the tank install, we stripped the frame in anticipation of paint. Anthony and his mom spent a couple hours degreasing, cleaning, then scotch-briting

next up, powder coated parts. Also waiting on a conclusion to the cross member issue....

Seems like with about 16" between the top of the intake and the bottom of the hood, the motor could come up a bit? After living with a low-hanging pan in my longtime Vega driver I've never left a fluid pan being the lowest point on a chassis, I always think of the joke, What is an Oh-No bird? It's a bird with two-inch legs and three-inch b***s and every time it comes in to land it goes "OH NO! OH NO!" Some mount re-fab and a trans tunnel would be a PITA but avoid potential indignity later. On the other hand I suppose you could call the running boards the low point and I'm guessing the trans pan is above that.
