New episode. I learned to use time lapse so this one zips through the header install. I ran into a new issue, which I am finding is not uncommon, and that is lack of header to spark plug clearance with these large plug heads. I may have to take the headers back off if i can't get a plug wrench on these things.

I built the steel version of the intake elbow yesterday. Cutting the big hole was the hardest part by far. Tried the cutting torch, with little luck.

Ended up using a hole saw and my big Craftsman drill tried to turn me into a pretzel a about a hundred times. I even broke the hole saw (stripped the threads out) so I ended up welding it back together permanently. Haha.

Otherwise it went really really well. Very happy with the outcome. It is similar to the Trick Flow elbow, but without the substantial drop. Hopefully this will keep the intake tube and the down pipe from trying to occupy the same space.

I finished up the throttle body/ cable stuff this evening and then started to mount the turbo. But, before I could do that, I needed to rotate the center section of the turbo to be a little more vertical. This was mainly to get the drain line pointed more in the right direction than anything. That turned out to be a much harder task than I expected.

Ended up putting it in the vise and "tapping" the center with an "object of influence" a few times to get it to turn. Haha.

Did not have time today to get it bolted in though.

and Work Up using the proper technique.

The turbo install goes into day 2. I chop a hole in the car, lose bolts, and basically lose my mind.

Today was a good day. I focus my attention on other things, namely looking at hood clearance (which there is none), the oil return line fitting and bolting the wastegate on! It was a nice distraction from the previous days of fail. Haha.

When I was checking for WOT, I noticed the throttle cable bracket was flexing more than felt was ok, so I added a small brace to prevent it. I also popped the upper intake off..... Edelbrock, what are you doing??? A bolt *inside* the intake???? That sucker is crazy hard to access. Sheesh.

I pull the fuel rails and old injectors. I talk about the new injectors and about Greenbean, the other SN95 project. Basically I talk too much in this one.

I did a lot of stuff to this car today and didn't video one second of it. Mainly because it was cleaning and then a gazillion "might as wells".

• Took 5 cans off brake clean to get everything marginally clean.
• Blocked off the pcv port at the back of the manifold.
• Sanded to tops of both valve covers. They are ready to paint.
• Drilled the driver's valve cover for a grommet and vent.
• Painted the intake elbow I made.
• Shortened the wastgate dump tube so it won't bbq the rack boot.
• Made a self-holding nut for the turbo bolt I can't get a wrench on.
• Installed the heat shield on the crossover pipe.
• Moved the radiator overflow tank over a couple of inches.
• Installed the new fuel injectors and rails.
• Measured for a new belt
• Removed the CCRM because I think it is bad and I have a new one on the way
• Sorted through all the vacuum lines and determined what stays and what goes and where I need to run new ones
• Neatened up a crap-ton of wiring in the engine bay.

Overall a great afternoon in the shop!!

More random stuff accomplished yesterday. Again, I didn't video any of it.

• Replaced the plastic oil pressure gauge line with a copper one.
• Did a lot more looking and planning as far as vacuum/boost lines go.
• Looked at oil feed options. Going to be tight. Not a lot of room down there.
• Relocated the TFI again to help make the SPOUT connector end up in an accessible place.
• Trimmed the lower radiator overflow support bracket to clear the crossover pipe.
• Painted the valve covers, upper intake and the elbow I made.
• Unwrapped the down pipe. The old heat wrap was starting to fall apart.

Downpipe: I think I am going to make it two piece with a v-band. It's a pain in the butt to get in and out of the car as it is. Particularly when wrapped with heat wrap.
