  • The FURD

    opel's gone, but i bought a Furd.

    it's an '80 F/150 Ranger

    351M/c6/9"

bought it for a song & all it needed was a fuel pump. (also rebuilt the carb & threw new plugs at it.)

    it's a longbed...but i plan on building a flatbed.

    it was covered in 'old'.

but, all in all pretty clean.

TIB might be strong, but totally sucks for mods. i'll be swapping in a straight axle.

    details.

after 12 hours of removing green overspray & white enamel.

    that thing is tremendously clean!

around here that would be rusted to oblivion.

I'm quite fond of the 80 - 86 trucks, not as cool as the previous generation - but still cool.

With the M and the C6 - if you want to change engines - look into a 429 or 460 - since you have a big block bolt pattern already on the trans.... or You could put aussie clevo heads on the M and hunt down an aluminum 4v intake for the 2v intake port sizes with the tall deck M/400 block - and that would very much wake the old girl up with a conservative cam....

or you could leave it as is and "drive the wee out of it"
There's always something new to learn.

              brain's all well.

i've got a check up in oct.
thinking about ####in' with the doctors...

i can do a pretty good retarded impression.
well, i call it an impression.

latest update is the dash & i'll have to borrow a camera to get pics.
pulled the F O R D off the hood, gonna fill the holes & paint it.

thinking about changing it to say F U C T.

Naw, just tell the doc you feel great as you fake a repeating tic.

                    painted the dash:

gotta touch up the silver bits, & the a/c vents are getting turned into cubbies. note: the budlight tap

doodled on the hood with a sharpie.
to remind me to buy spraypaint.

                        most likely, replace it.

but while a 429/460 would be fun to build, i can't stop oogleing the idea of a tri-power 300.

                            Re: The FURD

straight sixes rule! just ask Dan! ;D

if you go with an inline 300 - see if you can come up with one of the cross flow heads - rumor has it in the dyno labs at Ford - the cross flow head made the 300 more powerful than the 351W at the time - then the '96 model truck wouldn't accomidate the length of the 300 so they scrapped the project... pitty. There's a reason BMW has run inline 6s for so long... theire inherently well balanced and strong as hell.

I encourage you to look into an AOD trans if you go with an inline or a smallblock - the trans in there now has a bigblock bellhousing pattern so you'll have to replace it anyway - why not have overdrive?

You're sketching with a sharpy is better than lots of the flames and stripping I've seen - you're an arteest!
