    Headers are back on....

Oh an anything I might have said in the past about stuff being easier the second time around was a LIE.

    That is all.

You're not helping my motivation to pull the clevo out of mine and try the 72 mustang headers!

How many wrenches have you "customized" for this task?

What kind of header gaskets and bolts did you use?

I'm thinking about trying stainless allen head bolts, and no gaskets - just the high heat copper RTV....

I'm really looking forward to the latest video of this thing running again!

Remember - how do you eat an elephant?

        one bite at a time!

That's how I have to look at these projects, if I try to comprehend the whole thing - I get discouraged.

          1 wrench customized.

Gaskets are remflex which added to the probs because they are soo fat. I ended up having to pull the driver's header and add a small clearance dent or two. Of course that meant dropping the steering shaft, removing the top shock bolt, and removing the front wheel. lol but it fit waaaaay better after. ;D

It runs again and it's very very very angry. I really need to get some exhaust on this thing before my neighbors lynch me. ;D

              My kids love it...... not.

go to the store and buy a pair of cherry bomb header mufflers and a pair of 90 degree bends....

that should make it just quiet enough to piss off only the neighbors immediately on either side of you.

Don't get me started on neighbors --- ours just put up a wall of 25 foot tall spruce trees in an attempt to block the smoke from our woodstove this winter.... truly whackos!

They actually bought 25 ft trees ?

                    YUP!
I figure they spent about $8k to put up a 25 foot tall blue spruce "fence"
They are truly messed up in the head.

Go the exhaust on the passenger side almost done last night. I was on my last weld and ran out of wire. It was really easier than I was expecting. In fact, had I not run out of wire, I could have had both sides 95% done. One mandrel "S" bend off the collector, into the cat, 24" straight back to the Hooker Maxflow. I just need a turnout at the end of the muff. They will exit just in front of the rear wheels.

we need a sound clip when you are done.

Did you buy a "kit" of bends to build it?

what wire are you using in your welder?

I have an sp200 lincoln (big old monster) with .035 wire... I think it's too large diameter wire for exhaust tubing, not sure if I should get a spool of .025 or .030.

what I really want is a tig - but, don't have the budget for it!

I just bought 2 90 mandrel bends and a 6' stick of pipe. I will end up using only about 4' of the pipe.

My wire is 0.030" and it seems to work fine on this tubing. This tubing is from a diesel truck shop and is better tubing (heavier) than typical parts-store stuff.

I really need 2 more bends to make the dumps.

I have never used a TIG, but they sure make pretty welds.

The 'cat' is there because it is supposed to pass a visual inspection. No cat on an '86 = instant fail.
