You can have him build the motor and dyno it, you get a spiffy readout sheet with it! Lots drag motors around here run his "fresh off the dyno" motors..

No, I meant there is a shop here, http://boost-performance.com that is very good at tuning efi, etc. The owner is a really good guy and the shop is about 1/2 mile from my office. I will build my own engine, I'm not too bad at that.....usually. Haha.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Nutter makes the kit to use a GM efi computer on a hemi. If I decide to go that route, I would just buy the conversion kit from Nutter and build my own engine. I would only use Boost Performance (the local shop) if I needed help with the tuning part as they are very familiar with the GM computers. Sorry for the confusion!Life is short. neat stuff. I can see why you want the later heads. Chrysler did something similar with the very early hemis, frist couple years they had round intake ports, then they widened them a lot. Looks like the Eagle has a lot more spring in it too

Cleaned up ports on either can boost those numbers a bit. I have seen the small port heads right at 300cfm with very minimal work. For comparison, my TFS BB heads flow 344 at 0.600" and 350 at 0.700". The Eagles move A LOT more from 0.100"-0.400" and essentially the same at 0.500".Life is short. Hmm, I would of thought your BBF heads would of moved a lot more air. When I had a light clean up and port job done on my Buick's head it was like at 330 at .600" ircc (around 315 at .500" iirc)
Now I see why the heads have to come off for a cam swap, it has horizontal lifters!!Escaped on a technicality.Comment

Actually the lifter retainer/guides are like an LS engine I believe. Remove rockers, turn the crank and the lifters catch. Then you just pull the cam out and slide a new one in.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

BBB heads were REALLY high tech in their day and still flow decently even by today's standards.Originally posted by TheSilverBuick View PostHmm, I would of thought your BBF heads would of moved a lot more air. Really really really thinking about turboing this thing. That would allow me to build a pretty mild engine that encourages me to drive it around more and then unleash the PAH when I go to the track.
Early 5.7L block
Short intake Muscle Motors intake with efi or maybe the 6.1L intake so I can go back to a flat hood. <-- kinda like that idea.
PWR crank kit:
-Mopar 6.1L OEM Crankshaft
-Manley 6.240" H-Beam Rods
-ARP2000 Rod Bolts
-Wiseco Pistons (3.917, 3.922, 3.937)
-Wiseco GFX Steel Rings
*Some* camshaft, probably pretty mild because 10.00 is as fast as this thing can legally run, but would not mind being able to click off a 9 every now and again.
76 or 80mm turbo - Probably a CX Racing turbo.
air to air intercooler
4l80E - with manual shift conversion
My buddy John Turpen's 9.2x sec 76mm turbo Mustang really opened my eyes as to how you can have the best of both worlds with turbos. That car is about as unassuming as they get.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
