Roll the sprag, then the drum is not held and spins 2.2x engine rpm until it goes off like a bomb. Carbon fiber trans shields usually cannot contain it.

I'm sure you all know what you are talking about, drag racing is not my forte, it just took me by surprise that the 727 wasnt that strong.. But then horsepressure nbrs are steadily climbing all the time, trannys seem stuck in the old ages..Comment

They are extremely strong, however if there is a driveline failure under load they can kill the sprag, which can lead to an over speed of the drum and it explodes and makes a mess of everything. With a 727 it is very important to check the sprag after any kind of driveline failure. Beyond that they are fine.
