Ok, so I finally decided to open it up a tad on the access road today. I don't know if I just forgot what a monster this thing was or if it just that much more of a monster now. Holy cow, my hands were shaking when I pulled up in the parking lot. It wails like a banshee and lights the shift light in a nano-freaking-second in 1st and 2nd. Giggity, my heart rate was bouncing off the rev limiter.
Still seems to be way on the rich side, both on the gauge and by the way it runs. Not sure why unless my previous O2 location/mounting was just that bad (HIGHLY possible)or if I need to check and make sure the air bleeds are all good and clear.Last edited by BBR; August 11, 2015, 11:48 AM.Life is short. I worked on the car in preparation for it's first visit to the track this coming Friday. I needed to replace the roller bearings in the ARB with bushings and reset the upper control arms. On Sunday before Drag Week 14, I monkeyed with the uca's in an attempt to make the car 60 foot better. It didn't help because it wasn't the problem at the time. Cutting the mount
out was a huge pain in the butt but totally necessary. I did most of the heavy grinding with an angle grinder, then finished up with a Dremel.
It's free!
Weird deal. The bearing cage was not damaged, yet most all the roller bearings were out.
I left the roller bearing race pressed in the mount. I ground down the retaining lip and the new bronze bushing fits snugly inside.
Since one side was still welded into the car, it took a little finagling with a block of wood and a big hammer to encourage the bar to go back in place. Once in place, I welded it back in.
After that was all done, I reset the uca's to the bottom hole in the S-box. While the car was in the air, I went back over the bottom of the engine and trans checking bolts to make sure everything was still good and tight.
Popped off the valve covers and checked some cylinder head bolts to make sure they had not loosened after the first heat cycles and checked the valve lash. Both were spot on.
Can't wait until Friday!

No just regular old bronze. I gooed them up with wheel bearing grease real good, but really it's only going to be used on the track so they should last a good long time.
The flanges on these also took out most of the side to side slop the bar had with the roller bearings.Last edited by BBR; August 17, 2015, 10:12 AM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

All this work seems entirely too easy. Something is wrong.
