Well......... Jonathan (JWS4621) and I *were* talking turbos yesterday.....

However, we concluded nitrous would probably be a better choice.

First things first though and that is figuring out this MS ignition stuff!!

Wasn't happy with how the 90/10 struts were reacting off the line. Watching the videos of it, it is almost like the front end was coming up too fast and then setting back down quickly. May just not have enough damping for such a nose heavy car.

It might be trying to unload the tires when the front runs out of travel.

Given my status as "failed to get car done in time" I won't be passing through Amarillo and I'll Fed Ex the coils, harness and driver to you this week. I know somebody who has a very lightly used Zex perimeter plate set up for a dominator on a 460 single plane manifold. Just sayin'. I'm cleaning out the store room to pay for DW 15.

Taking the car to Noble, OK this coming weekend for the annual Ford v. Buick shootout. Hoping to run some 10.teens or 10.ohs in their typically good atmospheric conditions!

So yeah, didn't go as well as I had hoped.

We arrived Friday evening and it was very humid and hot. DA was around 3300 feet. Started off positive. Unload, get the car ready, get teched, go up and the car runs a 10.42 @ 130.xx. That was a little better than it's best pass ever there but with waaaaaay worse air. Car seems to have a little hesitaition in the upper rpms, thought it might be detonation, so I up the jets a bit and try again. Best run of the evening was a 10.38 @ 131, but the hesitation was still there. Rain was closing in, so we boxed it all up and looked forward to morning when the air would be muuuuuuch better.

Morning DA was 1800, and I was itching for a fast pass. I was afraid that hesitation was detonation so I backed the timing down to 32 and upped the front jets. Best run was a 10.41 @ 130 and the hesitation was getting worse. Fiddled with stuff, added better fuel to the mix (was running straight 91), and the problem just got worse. Ran a bunch of 10.70's shooting ducks. Car wouldn't even make 6500 rpm. I finally turned on my brain and decided it was a spark energy issue. I ran to O'Reilly and picked up a new coil for the HEI distributor. When I opened up the distributor top, the old coil smelled bad and the secondary ground wire literally just fell out. We joked that the only GM part on my car was the one that failed and that it must be a Team Buick conspiracy. Haha.

Went up for my race against Team Buick and bam, it went right back where it was, 10.42 @ 130. It was a landslide this year because a ton of fast Fords showed up. I was #35 with a 10.41 qualifying time! The final score was 69-5, but I think everyone still had a great time.

The strut change was a good move. Front of the car now comes up and stays there! 60 foots were very consistent 1.51-1.52's, not stellar, but workable for now.

Sucks that I wasted a whole day chasing my tail, but happy that the car was running right again and drove on the trailer at the end of the day. I have some video's I'll upload in a bit.
