Looking at the K-member, you might want to throw a couple gussets on the engine mount stands. I've bent the things with my little bitty turbo-4 and had to add gussets. Your big block is going to make it groan.
Today was a good day. I took advantage of the super nice weather to paint some of the interior plastic. I used SEM paint for yinyl, fabric and plastic. This stuff is FREAKING AWESOME.

The flash kinds jacks with the color, but you get the idea.
I also made a shifter mount. This closes up the factory 5 speed hole in the floor and moves the Prostick up to a comfortable position for me.
Welded the big bolts into the down bars.
Stuck the roll bar in the car but it's not bolted in yet. I am super impressed with how well this sucker fits the car.
That SEM paint sure does look like it works magic!
I love the shifter "pedestal" I may have to rob not only your cal-tracs ideas, but also that one for the ranger, I'm thinking more toward using the hurst quarter stick in it, instead of an oem, we'll see.
Nice work! Let me know how the door bars work out. I had to shim mine slightly to get the bars to line up properly with the main hoop. I like your concept. The Max Motorsports stuff has been excellent for me.
You can't see it on the pics, but on the pedestal, there is a hole drilled in the backside of the square tubing and one centered on the square tubing through the base plate to route the backup light/neutral safety switch wiring to the trans through so I don't have a bunch of wires hanging out everywhere.

where did you get the paint from ? Just curious bout the color, is it a red red or darker, kinda hard for me to tell from the pics, Im looking for a darker red to match a red oxide primer color ... oh and hw much is it per can and how many cans did it take ?
SEM is a leading manufacturer of innovative paints, adhesives and coating products. Our products are developed to exceed your automotive, aerospace and marine repair and refinishing needs.
I used 2 cans and it was $12/can, but worth every damn penny. ;D
Looks great. Don't worry about the red looking weird in the pics. It's an old story that digital camera's can't process red colors and are overwhelmed by them. That's why they look insanely bright.
I didn't have that issue. Mine's a convert and they go thru the seat and anchor into the rear cross member. You have to weld in a plate to tie the whole deal together. The top mechanism precludes hooking the bars to the wheel wells. But I bet that plastic would be a stinker.
