Did you get your trailer light wiring figured out? I dug around looks like curt makes a 5 wire in 4 out that might work.

Yes I did. I used a very similar adapter I got at Oreilly's. Then in the tech line, the left side blinkers were not working..... pulled the rear bulb out of the Mustang, put it back in and they started working again. Haha.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Gotcha. The quote was almost entirely lower case letters and I could't figure out what was fixed about that. hahaLife is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Our annual trip to Noble, Oklahoma for the Buick vs. Ford Shootout is coming up soon!
The plan is to finally use the nitrous on the car. I built a mount for the WOT microswitch so everything should be good to go as far as the n2) system is concerned. I will be tickled to death is it runs 12.99 on the spray, but secretly hope it runs better than that.
BUT, we really need to get a handle on the timing and in particular, the mechanical advance. This distributor throws in a TON of mechanical advance. As in 36 degrees! I didn't have time to really jack with it before Rocky Mountain Race Week, so we just set it and pretty much left it alone the entire week. We probably ran way too much timing all week, but it never seemed to ping or act like it. I guess the mid-8's CR makes it fairly ping-proof haha.
Now that we will be spraying it, a 36 degree swing isn't going to work. So yesterday I pulled the advance mechanism out, measured up a bunch of stuff to verify the advance, and then quickly hit the slot with the welder. I narrowed the slot from 0.540" to 0.377". This should bring my mechanical advance down to a more reasonable 21 degrees.
The math behind it, so I can remember it: 36 degrees/(0.540' - 0.155" the width of the stop pin) = 93.50649 93.50649 x (0.377 - 0.155" the width of the stop pin) = 20.7
You subtract the width of the stop pin because the slot bottoms on either side of the pin. This means your actual advance travel is the slot width minus the pin width.
Ideally, we probably want to run 32-34 degrees of timing max when on the spray, so this should work good. It will also let me install some lighter advance springs to bring in the timing quicker. I purposefully put in some heavy springs before RMRW and the timing ramped in really really slow.Last edited by BBR; September 19, 2018, 08:10 AM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I put the distributor back together, fired it up, and checked the timing. Lools like my math was spot on. 15 initial, 36 all in!
I installed lighter advance springs and the timing comes in much faster now.

Tomorrow is the day! We will be taking the '83 on the trailer and Jake will be driving his '03. I really considered just driving the '83, but Jake talked me into putting it on the trailer. He is worried one car or the other might break something. I'm really not worried about that. It will be the first time to tow with the Jeep. I think it will do great. The old 1998 Durango used to tow pretty good and the Jeep is bigger, has a higher tow rating, more power, bigger brakes and has the factory tow package.
I hope to make a pass next to him during open qualifying. 83 vs 03! Can't wait!Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Red car gsts the slicks. The 03 has 3.27 gears and a 28" slick would probably kill the clutch!Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
