If it's any help my idle AFR is also 15-16 fully warmed up. Scott and I spent a fair amount of time on that at the Hot Rod show and that was where is was happy, vacuum and stability wise. Two True Street events later, one in hot weather one not, proves to me that the motor was good with those numbers. Light cruise also ended up leaner than I was orginally comfortable with, but no detonation, plugs clean so all good.
Big lopey motors, even EFI ones, leave fuel all over the place due to reversion so I've become comfortable with it. I think you are on the right trackDrag Week 2006 & 2012 - Winner Street Race Big Block Naturally Aspirated - R/U 2007 Broke DW '05 and Drag Weekend '15 Coincidence?

No problem. It's easy to take things wrong on the net. I've taken plenty of flack for running it, but it has worked well for me.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

There's just something about having a distributor so big you have to cut the hood to clear it. lolLife is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Think about that for a second..............
So having a carburator sticking out of the hood is cool, but what twist of history would have resulted in the distributor being cool instead?

Ha, those are nothing compared to the one's my kid picked out at the mall yesterday. Sheeeeeks.
I worked on it a little this weekend. Tinkered with the carb a bit and decided to check the timing. At idle, it was dead on 32, but rev the engine and it would start bouncing around. Meh. Pulled the cap off and apparently my previous attempt to lock it out still allowed it to move around a little. I pulled off all the weights and springs and took a piece of strap aluminum and drilled 4 holes to lock the two sets of pins solidly together. It fit very snugly and I re-installed the c-clips to make sure it stayed put. I put it all back together and re-timed it to 32. I opened the throttle and watched it retard the timing 4 degrees. Everything was super solid now, just a 4 degree retard when the rpm's come up. I bumped the base timing to 34, an revved the engine, and it was solidly at 30 now. I think it is a function of the two piece shaft/distributor gear slop more than anything, but at least I know it's happening and can adjust for it. Idle is better now and it reliably returns to the same idle. Idle afr's are in the 16:1 range and it seems happy.

I wonder if the timing change is in the module itself? "time" and "degrees" are different things....so it might act differently electronically at different rpmMy fabulous web page
