Probably has something to do with the only Ford part on your cars. The rear end!Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

GoodOriginally posted by BBR View Post60 over, align honed, new cam bearings and corE plugs. Pretty much. Ready to clean up and start building. Came with a set of resized stock rods and a clean timing cover. Phone won't let me insert the image. Boo.
Good answer!
Might stick a good mic in it and see if they're close enough for the new pistons? When I had mine bored I took all the slugs down there so he measure them up and get the clearance right for them (forged).Last edited by Beagle; October 19, 2014, 10:56 AM.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

Haha I know. It was one of those CL ad's that didn't have a pic and just a few words and a phone number. Took a shot and called it. I disassembled my heads last night. They are definitely gonna need some work if the A429 option does not work out. Since I have to buy pistons for the other block, that opens up the door for a head change to a SCJ or P51 possibly. Bare SCJ's are pretty cheap and come with a valve job. The new AFR's are impressive, but finding affordable pistons would probably be the hangup at this point. Options options options....Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Just Lem. Talked TFS valve springs with him for a bit and have bought a few parts from him. Never talked with Charlie. Blake ports heads and has had great results with them. Not real sure I want to invest much money in this set though. I bought these used and the previous owner had the spring seats cut 0.100" on both exhaust and intake on one head and just the intakes on the other. Weird. In addition, they really did a poor job of it and the seats are a bit uneven. It just might be wiser to start fresh rather than dump a bunch of money into this particular set of heads.Life is short. I think I will just hang on to them and wait until I find someone looking for damaged heads on one of the BBF sites.
Good news! My mom-in-law is moving to Amarillo from Fort Worth. Her townhouse has a 2 car garage and she's going to let me put the Mustang over on one side for the winter. As soon as I get the old short block out, I'm going to drag it over there and forget it exists while I gather parts to fix it.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I probably won't do any work on it there except for maybe replacing the front bushing and seal on the C6. Build engine, drag back to my house, install, maybe park it back over there for a while. Idk.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

That what I should start doing, storing others' race cars over the winter, I will even take it out and exercise it some so it does not get all stiff!
