Then leave the hood as it is. Don't paint it with anything other than urethane 2k type primer.

Sherwin-Williams is really good at matching and tinting paint. Tell them what you are wanting to do and what the surface you will be painting is made of, and follow their recommendations. Even tell them if you are planning on spraying it or rolling it on.....they will steer you right.
Our local Sherwin-Williams is awesome and has been very useful in this arena.Last edited by STINEY; December 15, 2014, 10:58 AM.Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

Have MAACO shoot in their cheapest paint. In less than a year it'll fade to look old. That's how I did the deck lid and spoiler on the Camaro though I did shoot it myself in cheap enamel with no hardener. By the end of the season it looked just like the rest of the car. Terry (trussell) can post up a pic if you PM him - he's not on much anymore.

I was really kinda joking about matching the car's paint because it is pretty awful.
IF (and that is a big IF) I were to do anything, I'll probably just shoot it black and call it good.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I was kind of joking too, only not really. I'd do steps a) and b) good primer red and flat black accent. lol.
Hey, our search engine in this forum blows. I searched but can't find it... what kind of converter are you using?Last edited by Beagle; December 18, 2014, 08:16 PM.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

The converter is an ACC boss hog street bandit. I posted a video of a pass watching the tach on the bullet and asked if they thought it needed tweaking, but Hutch said it looked and sounded pretty close. I may just leave it alone. The only thing that really concerns me about it is the fact it does not have antiballoon plates.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Thanks - I was liking their price point. Picking a converter seems to be one of the darkest arts in automobiles. I was thinking about calling up Broader but I'm not sure I'm ready to spend more on a converter than I did on the engine in front of it. Still pretty much on the fence, I think I'll call them both. It's not cheap if you have to do it twice, right?Last edited by Beagle; December 19, 2014, 05:45 AM.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

I talked to Lenny at Ultimate and about choked on the $1k pricetag. Maybe it's worth it, I don't know. I bought this one used off 460ford and it has worked fairly well. Seemed to slip more on the top end than I wanted, but some of that can be attributed to the fact I'm running 3.55 gears and 28" tires. It might tighten up a tad if I went to the 3.90's.Life is short. You don't wanna know what the Gale Banks converter in the Dodge cost! Pricey but bulletproof. Our trans guy has tried them all and the Banks is the one that has held up behind every truck he's put them in.
So yeah, them converters CAN get pricey!

I went over to location x and swapped the hoods yesterday. The old hood was 40lbs. The new one is 20. That drops the total weight of the car from 3225 to 3205.

I have decided that I would like for this car to tip in at 3000 pounds w/o driver. It is 3205 right now. Just need 100 places to loose 2 pounds!
Totally unrelated to weight reduction is the fact I just bought a 33 spline spool to go with my 33 spline axles. My 28's and stock diff can rest easy now!Last edited by BBR; December 22, 2014, 10:14 AM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
