Whoo Hoo! Fedex just delivered lifters! Going to run Lunati's this time. They are very very nice looking parts! Pistons will be here Tuesday.

The other ones were Comp's and it seemed like every time I had to pull them out, they were spread at the axle ever so slightly. Not enough to make removal or re-installation difficult, but there was enough drag I could tell. They were new way back when I was building the Ranger's 545. The wheels rolled perfect and they looked great, but I felt like it was probably time to replace them, so I sold them.
I waffled back and forth between Lunati, Comp and the regular Morels. I just happened to find a deal on the Lunati's first. This set of Lunati's are "used" in that they were slipped into the lifter bores of a short block that was never finished. The guy decided to build a SB, so he pulled them back out and put them back in the original box.
The only advantage the Comp's might have had is that they have the tiny hole to supply pressurized oil to the wheel bearings. That is something I'm not really sure is an advantage or if it is just a marketing ploy. I mean, while not subject to quite the same spring pressures as a solid roller, non-pressurized OEM roller lifters last hundreds of thousands of miles.

I know!
Measured the pistons at lunch and the piston to wall clearance is 0.0055". The recommended range is 0.0035-0.0075" so I am right smack in the middle.
I also weighed them and they are a little porkier that the old pistons. Unfortunately this will necessitate a piston pin change to a lighter pin to get the balance back in the ballpark (ballpark is <15g difference). Fortunately, I found a deal for the exact pins I need. lol Go figure.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Had same concern with comp. lifters, no problems but pulled them for inspection between 2011 & 2012 DW and 3 were spread at the axle
(tight coming out of the bore). Sent them all to comp. for service and they said to replaced the 3.

I got the installed heights all set and swapped in the Isky springs last night. Those PAC springs are some stiff sob's. I was not sure my cheapo spring compressor was going to survive! Heads are ready to install! Whoo hoo!
