Since Summit opened a new store in the DFW area, shipping to my house is now a next day deal even though we are 6 hours away. Not sure if that is a good thing or not! Haha
I ordered a few parts to keep this rolling. A fuel pump block off, black air cleaner and a 4150 fuel line.
I tossed the carb on with the filter and took a pic, because that's what I do. haha I was originally not real thrilled with the choice of black for the block, etc, but now, I kinda like it.

Saturday was transmission day! Jake and I went out to the local boneyard and procured a T5. The cars are really picked over out there but we were able to find 2. One was missing the shifter so it was probably full of water and this one. This is a 4cyl spec T5 (still WC). The 4cyl T'5's have lower ratios including 5th. It should work well with 275/60's the 3.55 8.8 LS we are putting back in. Back in the day, I used 4cy T5 in the Blue Ranger behind an EFI 302 with 3.73's and 26" tires. 1st was pretty darn low, so this combo will likely work very well. It was cheap, so if we need to do any work to it that is no big deal.
Since I am the curious type and have never see the inside of a T5, I'm going to go ahead and open it up and have a look. The fluid that came out didn't have any sparky's in it so maybe all the stuff in there is ok.

3.97 first... let out clutch, push clutch in. That should be very tough to stall... More gear than 4.10's with a V8 trans. The .79 is pretty cool, shouldn't hit the wall at 140. HAHAHAHA (don't tell Mom). The 3.08 cars in close to stock form were about the same in 4th as 5th as I remember, just not quite enough to get past that deeep OD.Last edited by Beagle; December 4, 2017, 04:03 PM.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

The shifter seemed a little stiff and wonky. I bolted a shifter on and could not get it to shift right. So, I watched a video on T5 and I opened it up! Everything looks good, no chipped gears, everything turns and moves as it should. The shifter issue is because the shifter fork shaft has rust on it. The shift forks should move freely and they are stiff. We will pull the shaft, clean it up and put it back together. Some of the gears have a little surface rust where they sat meshed together for years, but I am not worried about it.
Manual transmissions are pretty fascinating and simple.

Are you going to replace / upgrade anything while it's open? (ie Shift fork pads)
