Yes I am VERY happy with how it is looking so far. I am DYING to set it in the car! I really do need to get it in the car in the event we sell our house. (yes, still for sale.... boo)
Blue? Man I literally have no idea. Just some engine paint I've had since 2003 or so. haha
No, I did not clear the intake. I probably should have put something on it, oh well.
I'm thinking I can get the converter/trans & starter on it tonight (maybe... might need to spend some time with the wifey) or tomorrow night. Then get the car all positioned with the butt end up as high as I can get it and do some more cleaning so I don't trip over stuff trying to work out there. haha Then, Sat or Sun afternoon I might stab it in if not sooner.
So, I went out to the shop at 11:30 last night and did this:
All ready to drop in.
Waaay up on the air. To say I moved it carefully would be an understatement.
Open up and sayy Ahhhh
She's in!
That was really easier than it should be. lol
The only thing I had to remove besides the steering shaft, was the brake lines right at the master cylinder. Then it just wiggled it's way in and plopped down.
Ride height in front. It will drop a little more when the engine is fully dressed. 1.5" kmember spacers and 1 full coil removed from the spring.
Hood clearance. It is looking like I just might squeeze this under the factory hood and scoop. The bottom of the factory scoop will be 2" above the bottom edge of the ruler.
The driver's side header was designed where it points right at the driver's side trans mount. Boo. Mine is compounded by the fact the 1.5" kmember spacers lower the engine, but not the trans, so the headers are slightly pointing up.
Not my pic, but this is what the area looks like. You can't tell it by this pic but that tube is pointed right at the left mount. I cut it at the left peak and then welded in a spacer piece to move it over farther to the left and drilled new mount holes for that side. Then I trimmed the body-side mount back.
