Pro 5.0 sold a lot of shifters promising no more missed 3rd gear shift. Lies I tell you. All LIES! lol. It'll probably ET better with a slush box, but there's a certain joy in driving a stick that can't be replaced, not to mention modern day theft deterrence.

I really think this one would have been fine had the stop tower not come loose. But, oh well, it was a good excuse to upgrade.

Since the car is down, I felt like it was a good time to also make an intake manifold change. We have not had any noticeable problems using the Performer 289 dual plane intake, but the consensus seems to be that it is not the best for fuel distribution with a blow thru carb. A couple of the header tubes are discolored differently so that tends to make me think they are running leaner than the others. I didn't want to spend a whole lot so I ordered a Speedmaster single plane from Jegs. I liked that it has cast-in injector bosses so if we decide to go efi at some point, we can just drill them and jam an injector in.

I built a new mount for the B&M shifter. This plate bolts to the floor pan using the stock bolts and holes and positions the shifter where it is comfortable when belted in. I used to have one in this car that I made back in 2010, but I gave it to a buddy when we went to a 5 speed.

The AOD is reasonably clean now. Next is swapping the valvebody and installing the B&M shift selector lever.

Funny, Edelbrock or Weiand never told me to enjoy.... Intake looks line a nice piece. Casting is very smooth and the ports do not look to need any clean up. I wish it had a vacuum port in a back runner like the Performer does, but I can manage.

Looks like it has a vac port on the passenger side. Interesting how some of the bolt holes are machined and others are not.

Yeah the center 2 on each side are not spot-faced. No biggie.

I never cared for those fragile looking things sticking fat in the middle of a runner. Can you stick the sensor in the air pipe pre-carb? The air/gas is going to cool it anywhere you put it in the manifold compared to a factory setup where it was before the injectors - my WAG.

I could put it upstream, but I want to know the actual intake air temp that the engine is actually seeing. This is really only for datalogging purposes.
