Noted Randal. I will leave the 14" Crescent in the drawer for this one.
I priced longer factory cables and they were more expensive. Besides, if this one fails on me somewhere, it is a normally stocked O'Reilly part so getting a replacement won't be an issue!Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

The first one.
My repair.
At the pedal. I ran the wire backwards intentionally, it kept me from having to cut both ends of the wire based on my gas pedal set up.
Coming out of the firewall.
The next place it broke was the plastic clip that attaches to the throttle cable bracket. When mine broke and I got my second one of these cables the first thing I did was cut off the cheap threaded end and installed the brass compression fitting through the firewall.Last edited by TheSilverBuick; November 29, 2012, 06:00 PM.Escaped on a technicality.

Hmmm, at first I was fired up about the idea of a lower cost throttle cable replacement than the Lokar deal I have, but Randall's breakage shots have me second guessing that. I had the original factory cable break at DW 06' and eventualy replced it with a Lokar universal that is till going strong through several stages of adaptation to different induction setups.Drag Week 2006 & 2012 - Winner Street Race Big Block Naturally Aspirated - R/U 2007 Broke DW '05 and Drag Weekend '15 Coincidence?

Used to use stock ones on derby cars.. Then use another tied in on top to make a hand throttle when the floor comes up and limits pedal movement.. They last pretty good..except when they get bent or compromised, then they go south fast..

At lunch yesterday I decided to swap in the new cable.....
What a tremendously huge PITA that was! The biggest problem was the fact in a Mustang you can't see where the cable comes thru the firewall and you can barely get your fingers up there to work even after removing the pedal assembly. Add to that the irritation factor caused by the futzy firewall insulation and you have a job I do not want to mess with again anytime soon!!
But..... that part is done and I can now cut it to length and finish hooking it all up.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
