No. Scottie said front bushing wear in a C6 will let a little fluid by if the fluid gets really hot. Just running around town it does not normally leak, but that first day on DW12 with all those long hills really heated it up. I don't know how hot it got, but the trans tunnel was very very toasty. He said that front bushing is also why my converter will drain back and over fill the trans when it sits for a few weeks without being started. He offered to let me bring it in to his shop on a Saturday and we could swap it out. That sounds like a huge job, but it would be nice to have fixed. Not sure if I want to jump into that or not just yet. If the trans has to come out, I'd really like to change converters, but that's not in the budget right now.

Trans blanket is here and I went ahead and ordered a deep transmission pan and a large plate style cooler to replace the stock depth pan and 2 small coolers I am currently running.
If I get a box from Bill before then, then I might add some front suspension changes to the mix as well.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Fanstatic night at the track last night. Car ran awesome and drive home under it's own power. Ran it's best ET in Amarillo ever. A 10.85 @ 125.4. 60 foots were much better on the bias ET Streets than they were with the drag radials. More in line with what it 60's on the full slicks. These are definitely a little more mushy feeling that the stiff wall slicks I normally run and on the last pass of the night, I though i was going to eat the guard rail. Luckily I was smart and let out before the rear got too far around. I decided to call it a night after that one. lol DA was 5800' that night.
Here's a sample. This was the first pass on the ET Streets.
Car ran like a top all night and I can't wait to stick this other cam in it and see if it picks up a little.Last edited by BBR; June 23, 2014, 11:44 AM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

are you running radials up front, and bias on the rear?My fabulous web page

Yes. It never was an issue with the stiff wall 10.5 slicks and the lane I ran in the last time might have been iffy. My friend with a turbo mustang skated all over it earlier in the night.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I've noticed kind of scary floating feeling at the top end with bias slicks combined with radial fronts. Reading about it...opinions vary...I'm planning to run all bias on the Chevy II eventually. They're kind of expensive and hard to get, though. My fabulous web page

I took some time the other day to work on the drag week box that I use on my trailer. It is always a pain to access the tool box when inside the big black box. So I decided to make the front of the black box fold down onto the trailer tongue. Then the toolbox drawers can be opened and accessed without having to take the toolbox out of the big box. I think I will build a gate on the trailer that swings across the front to provide additional security and support for the sides.

Maybe. I don't expect much water will get into it and what little that might most likely won't hurt anything in there.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

New cam is installed, but it was not without tribulations. Haha. I could have had it almost back together if everything had gone right. I'll add some pics later.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Well *most* everything went as planned to kick off GB14, but as with any project there were some snags.
First the bronze distributor gear looks fantastic. I actually bought a spare a while back thinking this one might be about dunzo. No way. It looks nice.
Got it in far enough into my cluttered garage to shut the door and keep the mosquitoes out!
The engine is super clean inside. Makes me happy.
I started to remove the balancer and forgot that the puller snout was almost the exact same OD as the ID of the crank's counterbore. I had it really stuck in there good before I noticed. I sat there for a good 30 minutes before I came up with a plan to get it out. I could grab it with vice-grips, but could not move it.
Finally, I hatched a plan to drill and tap it so I could pull it out. Luckily I could get the drill in position and it tapped just fine.
The lifters look and feel great, but I did find 5 rockers that felt tight. Closer inspection showed that one of the bearings in each had worked over tight to the snap ring. I removed the snap ring on one and it loosened up. Still debating as what to do here. A new set is $270, individuals are $19 each. Scorpions have a lifetime warranty, so I might give them a call this morning and see where that goes. Glad I caught it now and not after a failure. I bought these in 2009 for the Ranger, so they may have run their course.
I did have to trim a little out of the nose support to have enough room to get the cam out. If the engine was set back another inch it probably would have just had enough room to come right out. Nothing a little sawzall action did not cure though.
Tonight I hope to button it all back up for the most part and move on to another project.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
