Looks like the ABR is doing its job. So what struts did you go with?

I went back with the stock struts that were on the car when I bought it. I switched to Bill's takeoff 90/10's last summer, but I think they were just too loose for this car.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

That's what I was telling Jonathan earlier. I'd rather have it like this than pounding the front end every pass. I'm sure it would wheelstand much higher if I was using a 2 step and transbrake though.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Finally back from our trip to NYC. Not my favorite place to visit, but whatever.
Car hasn't been touched since I unloaded it from the Ford v. Buick race, which incidentally will include all GM bodied, LS powered cars for Team Buick next year. They have been letting all GM makes except for Chevrolet race for Buick the last few years in the hopes it would bolster Team Buick's ability to field a competitive team. It marginally helped, but after this year's lopsided Ford win, the powers that be decided to open the floodgates. I hope it does not screw it up. This event is always a blast and I look forward to going every year.
Time to get back to some small changes on the Mustang. Those being the Megasquirt ignition system upgrade and the assembly of my spare 8.8 with the spool, 3.90 gears and the 33 spline axles!

2 more pieces to the Megasquirt ignition puzzle. Ford 4.6L 36-1 wheel and a new billet hatchet weight/balancer spacer. I plan on attaching the wheel to the spacer to provide a crank signal for the ignition. The stock hatchet is rough cast and would most likely need to have some machine work done. This one should be good to go as is.

I had a little free time so I worked a little on the 36-1 wheel stuff this weekend. The hole in the wheel is 1.25" and the step on the balancer measured out to 1.908".
I needed a pilot so I took a 1.25" washer, drilled a hole in it and screwed it to a piece of wood. Then I clamped the wheel to the wood.
I thought a circle cutter would be the way to go. It said you could cut metal with it...... not so much. It scribed a nice groove then snapped the tip off.
Plan B was to go get a 1-7/8" hole saw at Lowes which worked great. I figured I would need to use the Dremel to open it up a little, but once I knocked the edge off the hole with a file, it fit the balancer perfectly.
Air gap. Hopefully that will be enough gap so that the pickup is not affected by the hatchet.
It really turned out better that I imagined. I really kind of expected to hork up at least one 36-1 wheel in this whole process. hahaLast edited by BBR; October 12, 2015, 06:45 AM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

it'd be fairly simply to put a flat plate between the hatchet and the 36-1 wheel... I'm not sure you need to, but it seems it would be a lot easier now rather then later. Heck, it doesn't even have to be metal...Last edited by SuperBuickGuy; October 12, 2015, 06:54 AM.Doing it all wrong since 1966

My kind of precision machine work! I have always wanted a Bridgeport and a lathe but really I'd use them so little that it's hard to justify the expense or the floor space. Maybe someday a local buddy with buy them and I'll have access (but not likely).
