Exhaust is done and it is crazy quiet even with the single straight thru Hooker Max Flow. Kinda surprised because they weren't so muffley on the big block.
I did install a cutout so we can make it loud if we want.
While the rear of the car was in the air, I decided to replace the pinion seal on the 8.8. It started leaking on RMRW in 2018 and would leave a pretty good spot on the ground after driving it. Popped it out, but the fluid was taking F O R E V E R to drain so I left it and will finish it up today.
Mine has always drained slowly, too. I got fancy and put a girdle on the rear end with a drain plug. It'll still take forever to drain but I won't have to pull the cover.
All done. New seal is in and the diff is full of fluid.
So I turned my attention to my DW trailer. I have used the same setup since 2012. Basically just a Harbor Freight trailer with some side boards I repurposed from a pallet. I changed things up a little over the years but the basic trailer stayed the same.
The wood floor was starting to deteriorate so I felt it was time to change it up. I have an aluminum toolbox I really wanted to use and l wanted to make things more accessible. I hate having to take a bunch of things loose just to get into a toolbox or whatever.
Right now I am just mocking stuff up getting an idea of what I want it to look like. I have a pretty good idea so far. The trailer will also get LED lights and I plan to upgrade to the larger 12" wheels.
The leaf springs on this thing are ridiculously stiff. I can jump up and down on it and they do not budge. Haha.
Today I built brackets to raise the toolbox up off the trailer deck about 8". This leaves me space to slip my plastic car ramps in. I always take them because they make getting under the car so much easier.
The larger wheels fit great. I really like how they raise the trailer up. I bolted a strip of that heavy rubber mat under the slicks not so much to support them, but to protect them from the trailer frame and road debris.
More trailer stuff. I started on the mounts to secure the slicks. This is similar to the way I did it with the old setup. The bar is a little short so I will make a new one that is long enough to get a lock through.
What a crappy time in the shop today. Everything I touched was junk, wrong or just plain stupid. Trying to work too fast, not paying attention to how things should fit, and not planning well.
