I needed a 3' piece of exhaust tubing, so I went to the local Midas and they just gave me a piece. I love free stuff.
IF all goes right, the wife and kiddos are going to visit her mom this weekend and I am going to steal some time to build the Mustang's exhaust system.
THEN I am going to try to get the tach working.
THEN I might cruise out to Amarillo Dragway that evening. I probably will not make any passes since I do not have much time on it (I don't trust it just yet, lol) but I do want to make an appearance. I think the brakes may still need to be bled better.
I called just about every tire place I could think of in town and NOBODY has 165/80-15's skinny fronts in stock. So I ordered a pair of Nexen's from www.onlinetires.com. $121 to my door is about the best price I could find.Last edited by BBR; May 10, 2011, 02:26 PM.Life is short. That's a darn good price. Any particular reason you went with the Nexans over the Nankangs? Just curious, I have the 135 Nankangs on the sandrail, they seem to be a good tire, 6 years on them so far but no weight on them either.....Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

I had Nexens on an extra set of wheels for my ex-girlfriend's car. When we broke up I gave the wheels to my dad for my mom's car. They only lasted 2 years before they started dryrotting and cracking. They didn't wear worth a crap either. But for only $121 it's not like you dumped a ton of money on them.Still plays with trucks....

Reason? Price. And some of the threads I read said the Nankangs had ugly sidewalls, so I just got the Nexens. Guys on the Corral are running these with good results. I guess we'll see.Last edited by BBR; May 11, 2011, 08:45 AM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I had some Nexens go out of round. Way different style than you bought, of course (265/35/18). It may have been because they were removed and re-mounted, but it was enough to steer me away from the brand.

So basically www.onlinetires.com sucks big time.
They show 3 different brands of 165/80-15 on their site and do not have any of them and apparently can't get any of them.

i was able to get that size from a local independent tire dealer, Federal is the brand name. They were 160. A friend mounted them for free. See if there is an independent tire dealer in your area.Neal

I just ordered a set of Nankangs off of ebay for not much more than the other's were.
I checked locally, but everybody quoted me $65+/tire and would still have to order them. Add in sales tax to that and it's a wash. This way, they will just be delivered to my office and I can have them mounted when I want to.Last edited by BBR; May 12, 2011, 09:34 AM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I miss my shop. Just came in from building the exhaust system out in the driveway. It went pretty smooth. I have both sides made up and all I need to do is make the H pipe and slash cut the turndowns! Whoo hoo!
Gave myself a hotfoot with slag too. Right through the top of my shoe and burned the bottom of my toes. Oowie.Last edited by BBR; May 12, 2011, 07:42 PM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Wow. Finally done with the exhaust....
I'm kind of a idiot because what I *should* have done (aside from taking it to an exhaust shop) is:
Start at the front and build my way back. What I did was hang the mufflers and build back to them, sort of. Also I should not have waited to do the H pipe last. That changed everything and I wasn't happy that one side was a little higher which would have caused the H pipe to be cockeyed under there.
In spite of all that, I am done with it. It ain't good, it ain't bad, but it's in there.
Oh yeah, the H seemed to mellow out the sonically abusive pop pop pop the Ranger had.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
