BBR's 83GT - 552 BBF version 3.0 (at least)

    Here we go down the front exhaust rabbit hole. Pretty simple. Couple of bends, 19" of tubing and a muffler. The left header goes right and the right header goes left. They exit just under the fender. I am going to reinstall the Ranger air dam I used to run. It should help everything blend together and look better.

    I probably could have run left to left and right to right, but the left header already bends to the right so it would have really needed some tight goofy bends to go left. This way was just easier for me. I *might* H pipe them together.

    I did have to perform a baffle-ectomy on the mufflers with the bandsaw. I took one look into the inlet and knew these had to be opened up.

    Looking down the inlet of one of the new mufflers....

    Is it bad that I want to cut it open and open the gap between the two diverters significantly? It's pretty dang small!

    Didn't do much today being Valentine's Day and all.

    I did open up the bolt holes in the headers a little so they would fit. They would not bolt on with all the studs installed because they were about as crooked as your Arkansas cousin's teeth. Which really is less about a problem with the adapters and more about my inability to hand tap holes 100% straight. Haha.

    I thought I remembered the iron head 460 being 720, and I know that one has a few extra pounds of crank in it. I also know you can use the stock iron intake manifold to hold a cruise ship still in a tropical storm, so I guess I'm not totally shocked, but under 600 is great!

    It is a few pounds lighter than I expected. I would have guessed right around 600. Not complaining though!

    Is anyone else shocked at the weight....? I thought that is close to what iron block aluminum head LS engines weigh?
    Although the factory BBF intake & iron heads are HEAVY, I didn't expect aluminum pieces would shed so much weight.
