Judd just got his driver's license!
We are planing to take this pile on RMRW this coming year. We would like to improve performance some. The nitrous is sorta fun, but I don't think I want to fund a week's worth of nitrous fills and I only have one bottle. It's not something I really want to pursue much further.
We are currently tossing ideas back and forth. Hee hee.Last edited by BBR; October 4, 2019, 08:36 AM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Not sure if we want to do that or a cam/head/intake change, but the topic has definitely come up. If we did, it would be super basic. After all, Judd is a drag race noobie just like Jake was.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Ok, as if I don't have enough stuff going on, we are going to try to add a GT45 turbo to this thing. I already ordered the turbo and hot side and they will be here Wednesday. I went with the 1.05 AR turbine so maybe we will have a decent chance of spooling it. $145 for the hot side and $150 for the turbo is stupid cheap and really hard to pass up.
The hotside looks like an On3 kit. Knock off maybe. Not sure if you can have a chinese knock off of a chinese product, but whatever.
We will convert our Holley 650 DP to a blow-thru carb and limit boost to 6-8 lbs. The goal is to run in the low 12's on 91 octane gas, much like it does on the N2O.
The 302 has forged pistons so it should be good to go. Hopefully we can do this for less than the cost of a head/cam/intake upgrade.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Yes. It has 3.55's and 28" tires so it might work ok. The hope is have Judd do most of the wrenching.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

The last converted carb I dealt with was a 44 Weber IDF with modulator rings to trick the carb into “seeing” boost referencing to fuel correctly on all stages of circuitry. The whole point was to improve on the “jet it for full boost and let the rest fall wherever and however rich it wants” theory.
Very interested in what the last 20 years have done to improve on modulator rings when blowing thru a carb.

I really want to turbo my mustang. I will be watching very closely! I know sometimes you don't want to know but I would love it if you kept a spreadsheet of what you use.
The other day I was thinking would it be worth it to remove a turbo kit to pass inspection yearly.....

We have no emissions testing here and this car has Antique plates so it does not have to be inspected at all.
I'll try to keep list of everything, but it will not be name brand stuff by any means.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

The headers look pretty decent. Word to the wise - support the turbo. There's a tendency to assume that the turbo-to-header flange is adequate to hold the turbo's weight but with expansion and contraction of the pipes and normal vibration there's a tendency for the pipes to crack and supporting the turbo will minimize that considerably. I knew a guy who built custom turbo manifolds for (among others) Ford's experimental lab and Steve always cautioned to do the supports.

I was going to look into that. This particular turbo is known to be a porker (37lbs) so I figure anything I can do will help.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
