I really didn't tell Judd about already buying this stuff. So yesterday I sent him some cryptic snapchats and he finally figured it out. He was super excited to say the least. He and his buddies were at the house for lunch and they were jabbering about cars, turbos, etc. It was pretty funny.

Are you doing an aftercooler or will this be "hot" system. Did you say what fuel you plan to use?
Comment
-
Fuel will be 91 octane pump gas.
We won't be running any sort of cooler. 6-8 psi doesn't really require it and the blow thru absorbs a fair amount of heat.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Have you put a straight edge on the exhaust flange?
Comment

I didn't have a real straight edge, but I checked them against a big hunk of angle iron and they were as flat as one could expect.
I just ordered the two v-band clamps it needs. A 3.5" and a 3.75". $9 and $11. So I am at $470 now.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I wonder how well balanced that turbo is? I don't know much about turbos (I hire that expertiese from Tim) but I DO know balance is a big deal. Maybe it would be worthwhile to have a local shop spin it up and balance it? Just thinking out loud here.

Idk. I am not super worried about it. If I was bolting it onto an expensive race motor I would be a bit more concerned, but not on this near stock 302. These GT45's have an outstanding reputation over on the turboforums. There are certainly lighter and more efficient turbos on the market, but the bang fo yo buck that these deliver is currently unbeatable.
FYI - This is the same turbo Randal has on his OHC Pontiac.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
