First oopsie. There will probably be plenty of these as we go along...
The hot side wastegate flange is for an HKS style wastegate. My wastegate is a Tial style flange. Had to order a $20 adapter. I could have made it myself, but I will happily spend the $20 to not have to!Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Jumped right into it this evening. It became were apparent that 3 things are already working against me.
1. Convertible motor mounts - lowers engine.
2. The 1.5" k-member spacers I installed to make the big block fit properly.
3. Using the rearmost (1" setback) motor mount slots in the k-member.
These team up to put the passenger header/turbo flange right where the swaybar mount is. I'm not using a sway bar so I will zip it off with a death wheel and the reevaluate. I'm not married to the spacers so they could go away. Just extra work.

Just compared engine heights to Jonathan's '84. Mine is 2.5" lower in the chassis than his is! I knew it was lower, but yikes!Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

The temptation has been to just DIY a hot side and go on, but I really just want to be able to bolt most of this thing together. So I'm going to pull the k-member spacers. 8 bolts and they are out. They made fitting a big block in there a lot easier, but are totally unnecessary for a small block.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I went to the Buick vs. Ford shootout at Thunder Valley (Oklahoma) Saturday. I just watched this year, but talked to a guy there with an on3 kit on an EFI aero car. C4, Explorer shortblock, TFS heads and some intake, a System Max maybe, tuned with a Quarterhorse. Ran 9.80's.
Judd elected to stay home and remove the rest of the exhaust system and scrape gaskets and stuff. He loooooooves scraping gaskets. (sarcasm. lol) He also managed to snap off the dip stick tube. Boo.

Those are really good times. What turbo did the mustang have? Was the car gutted out or full weight.

It had the 70mm on3 turbo I believe. Hatchback car, full roll cage, rear seat and plastics were out, pass seat out, power brakes and steering. I did not ask what boost level he was at but it was on gasoline. Said he considered E85, but has not made the change. The guy's size probably offset the weight savings of the interior piece being gone. He was not a small guy at all.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I managed to get the broken dipstick tube out of the block. There was just enough sticking out to grab it with the vice grips and then tap with a hammer.
I checked the k-member to make sure it was positioned correctly and installed and tightened the smaller rear bolts.
I couldn't stand it. I just had to mock up the header and turbo. The alternator may be a bit in the way, but I *might* have a trick to fix that. We'll just have to see.

The trick for the alternator problem is this nifty rotatable T4 to T4 flange with a v-band in the middle. It will space the turbo up/over 1.5|" and allow me to rotate it a skosh.to clear stuff. I could have relocated the alternator, but I reallt like the serpentine setup as it is.

Hood clearance is something we may have to monkey with. And I don't think flow restriction will be an issue. Maybe if we were trying to make 25 psi and 700 HP, but not for this thing.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
