MS internal changes are done and I put the old mounting plate on it to mount it in the car. This is the same way I mounted the previous MS in this car.

I started wiring the car for the MS install. It really went quick as there are not a whole lot of things that need to be connected in order for this to work.- TFI needed power, ground and PIP.
- MS needed power, ground, hall sensor in, spark out.
- Igniter needed spark in, ground and a lead to the coil (-).
- Coil still needs 12v - I'm going to run a lead from an existing relay that used to power the electric water pump. This relay and the fuel pump relay are controlled by a single toggle switch. So, when the fuel pump is on, the coil also has power.

Everything under the hood is wired up and ready. I put a spade connector sticking out of the harness on the TFI's coil lead to run a jumper wire from it to the coil (-) so I can set the base timing. It will also serve as a way to make the engine run in the event of a MS failure.
Next move is to wire in the MS, connect to the laptop and load a tune. Then I will connect the TFI distributor, spin it and see if it will register anything in the Tuner Studio tooth logger. I am hopeful it will!

I didn't have a whole lot of time today, but I did connect the MS, plug in the distributor, and check the trigger log while spinning it by hand. Looked good to me. Then I turned on the coil with a grounded spark plug in the coil wire. Spun the dist, nothing. The spark output LED is flashing, so I don't know what is wrong just yet. I'll figure it out though.

I feex.
Seems you should actually pay attention to the circuit board on the ingiter and not how the cover is printed.....
Works perfect when the input for 1 is on the same circuit as the output for 1. lol
Spun it with a drill and it looks excellent.

Rockauto sure is handy and fast. The old TFI distributor I had was for a roller cam engine. That means I was going to have to change the gear to be compatible with my flat tappet camshaft. A quick check of Rockauto showed I could get one with the proper gear for $28. Done.

Map sensor connected, O2 connected, wires connected and run for an IAT if I decide to add one. Next is yanking the Duraspark dist and stabbing the TFI one. Then I'll set base timing just running off the TFI module which will be a good test of the fail-safe.

I used MSDroid on an older Andriod phone when I had the big block in this car. It was great to be able to log and tune right from my phone.
At lunch I grabbed the adapter chain (Samsung phone -> USB-C to USB-micro adapter -> USB-micro to USB 2.0 -> USB 2.0 to COM -> COM cable to MS) and the MSDroid connected up just fine. I was worried all the adapters might not work right with each other, so I am relieved. Best part is that I can use this setup for both the pickup and the Mustang.
I am also using a break out adapter to wire up the MS this time instead of a cable. The reason mainly was cost. I could by an $11 breakout board or I could spend $50+ for a 2 foot cable.

Whoo hoo!! It runs on the Megasquirt!!!
Turned it on, hit the key and it immediately lept to life! Meg Ryan levels of yes yes yes!!!
I also tested the rev limiters at 3000 (soft cut) and 3500 rpm (hard cut) and it worked just like it should.
Oh and I added an intake air temp sensor so we can keep track of IAT's. The MS can be set to pull timing if IAT's get too high.Last edited by BBR; February 5, 2020, 10:43 AM.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.
