I think I might have to break down and spend the $$ on a lentech valve body or kit - the AOD in the falcon is still playing tricks.

Valve body, converter, flexplate, and locking dip stick are all on the way.
VB is a Broader Performance fixed line pressure Stage 2 unit. Should shift quick and hard and the throttle valve is only used for shift points. It also has WOT OD lockout and an altered shift pattern PRNO/D21.
Converter is an ACC 26401 Nightstalker Level 2 2200-2800 stall lockup style converter. (Broader said the vb will still do lockup.) I didn't want a converter with too high of a stall and end up with it feeling doggy off boost when driving around town. With as much torque as this thing makes, I think it will be on the high side of that scale. I'd rather it be too tight initially than too loose. The converter I originally ran in this car with the big block was an ACC and I was pretty happy with it.Last edited by BBR; July 17, 2020, 06:42 AM.Life is short. That all sounds like it should make a huge improvement in this car - I agree - with carburetors, cams, and converters - you're almost always better off choosing the more conservative option if lots of street miles are in the plan. I may have to break down and buy one of those valve bodies. What modifications do you have to make to the shifter - or what shifter is recommended for the PRNO/D21 shift pattern? There's always something new to learn.

I don't know just yet. Haha. I *think* it is a OD-2-1 pattern (3 detents) with OD being locked out at WOT. If it is a 4 detent, (OD D 2 1), I can get a plate for the Pro Stick that I think will work.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

I look forward to once again learning from your experience! I'm currently using a kilduff "brass knuckle" shifter with my AOD - I was instructed by kilduff to block off the 4th position (1) in order to work properly with the AOD. I think it's time for a new valve body - what concerns me is that the builder of my transmission modified the governor, which also affects the shift points I believe, it still has a stock valve body in it and therefore is still TV cable adjustment sensitive.
Is there any downside to the "constant pressure" valve body? There's always something new to learn.

Only downside is more wear on the pump and sealing rings. For a limited use car like this it's not a big deal. I wouldn't want it in a daily driver that I was going to put 20k+ mikes on.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Trans lines and valve body arrived today!
I have a mounting pile of parts now and I can't wait to dive into swapping this thing!
The only thing I am missing is a pedestal to mount the shifter like the one I used to have (that I gave to my buddy Jonathan for his auto swap).Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Judd and I pulled the T5 and manual trans stuff out yesterday. We took it apart to have a looky inside. Both the mainshaft and the countershaft gears for 3rd have large sections of missing teeth. lol

Pro 5.0 sold a lot of shifters promising no more missed 3rd gear shift. Lies I tell you. All LIES! lol. It'll probably ET better with a slush box, but there's a certain joy in driving a stick that can't be replaced, not to mention modern day theft deterrence.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.

I really think this one would have been fine had the stop tower not come loose. But, oh well, it was a good excuse to upgrade.Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Since the car is down, I felt like it was a good time to also make an intake manifold change. We have not had any noticeable problems using the Performer 289 dual plane intake, but the consensus seems to be that it is not the best for fuel distribution with a blow thru carb. A couple of the header tubes are discolored differently so that tends to make me think they are running leaner than the others. I didn't want to spend a whole lot so I ordered a Speedmaster single plane from Jegs. I liked that it has cast-in injector bosses so if we decide to go efi at some point, we can just drill them and jam an injector in.
