The heavy stuff is done, found lots of little things wrong, but ya know what? Its a freakin driver, not a show car. I'll deal with them later, but it is annoying having something messed up.

And its deep too! My friend I am doing the Cutlass for said its a nod to Michelangelo, "Touched by the hand of Todd"

One must first hit "rock bottom" before things "look good" Or "look up"
.
Might not look as good as it did a few hours ago..it will look better when you are "done".
You will get there!Leave a comment:

The yellow was not for me, that is the second to last color I would ever paint something for myself. I think pink would be the absolute last I would paint for me. I like this blue, and it is looking great as I am cutting and buffing it. Found a neat trick for getting rid of runs. You slather some filler on the run, then sand all the filler off. The run goes with it. I was amazed that I didn't cut through the paint doing it, but damn was that easy to fix.
Anyway, it is REALLY REALLY ugly right now, but damn if that hood doesn't look SWEEEET. My heavy cutting compound isn't very heavy, so I have to keep sanding with 2000 grit to get all the scratches out from the cut, damn lot of work let me tell ya.. It has to look like shit before it looks great. This car has looked like shit most of the last 30 years.

I truly, deeply, whole heartedly, hate butternut yellow or any other color in that spectrum...not that it looked bad...but it makes me think of baby shit after they had too much milk....Leave a comment:

Found a most important part that was MIA when I got the rolling heap of rust. The ever so required yet virtually unknown brake light switch. Spent a few hours going around with a tornado warning looking for alignment shims, even hit up a junk yard. Looks like I have to order some. Fun times. Started the wet sanding, its coming out nice. Have three spots I need to fix, dab a little base, then dab some clear, and wait. Thankfully they're not in an obvious spot. 600 today, 800 then 1200 tomorrow. Might as well make it nice and flat, right? Lots to do before I can drive it, but it's not like I have much else to do since it rained all day and I need this thing done.
More pictures tomorrow.... Hopefully I don't buff a hole in the paint.Leave a comment:

This one was Montero red, 389 4 speed 4 barrel from the factory. I have way too many red cars as it is, and I liked this blue on every Ford I saw it on. Not many green 65s, mostly black, blue, red, and yellow, with a few iris mist purple. 68 to 72 saw lots more green ones. Most of the factory colors from back then are boring to me, and I almost went with a bright gold, but decided against it.
Once the paint firms up a bit more, I'll put the body back together and put the bumpers on. Need to fix some runs and orange peel first, so I might have to shoot some more clear on it first. I'll mess with it a little today and find out.Leave a comment:

And no, I am keeping this one. I like it so much better now that it isn't pale yellow.Leave a comment:
